Tried to use it to pay for my 4046-M through East Stomp Boutique today and when I tried to choose my funding source it said Credit was not available on this transaction. Ok...so when the heck CAN I use it!? Do I just buy something on eBay in the blind hope the option is there when I come to pay?
Are you in the United States? If so, that could be the issue. If he is taking a different currency and it's not wanting to convert. Ask him to send you an actual invoice and it ought to work out the same way.

I've had to do that before. It's bs but it works most times.

It is definitely annoying. I've been turned down for small items, and then given the greenlight for much more expensive purchases. I asked them, since they don't do a traditional credit check every time, how do they define their terms, and no one had an answer for me. After I sent an e-mail about how frustrated I was with the lack of transparency, I think they gave me a (temporary?) account bump, because after that I've been approved every time.

My credit card though is the issue I had. Darkglass Electronics sent me an invoice and it would NOT let me pay the fucking thing with my credit. I tried everything and called them four fucking times. The lady I got that finally helped me by just talking to me, said they have no clue why it's blocking the transaction. That is the first time that has EVER happened. I told her I was pissed because I had just sent them a 700 dollar payment and paid off my account the other day (a few months before I paid off 2k!). Still nothing she could do.

So I had to bypass the system and forfeit the 6 months interest free. Sent money to my homie Excane through paypal credit, then had him send it back. I ate fees on it, but I was able to finish the transaction with Darkglass. I ended up paying more but I was determined to win. LOL. Now I owe money and have to scramble to make it up, which happens, but fuck, I wasn't going to give up.

I've done hundreds of purchases through them and that's the only problem I've had with the cc ever. What's weird about Paypal CC though is I don't think it helps your credit score at all. It didn't even come up in my credit report that I had that card. So weird.
I'm not sure if this may have been your issue but if the seller is requesting/invoicing for funds in any currency other than USD, you won't be able to use PayPal Credit for that transaction. I don't know why it's like that but it is. :idk:

OK...here's my funny (/) mildly agitating dealing with Affirm from today.

I've bought about 14 things through Affirm over the past year, beginning shortly after they became a Reverb partner. I did some of the 3-month and 6-month loans, always paying before the due date. For my 12-month loans, I've tried to pay even earlier and all those have been paid off 1-3 months early to reduce the interest.

So a week ago I tried to buy a pedal for $170. They said they'd only give me $131. It wasn't anything urgent, and so I opted to decline it and just buy it outright later. Fast forward a week and I paid the final 3 months off (about $60) on a $200 loan. That reduced my total loans open by one, and so I thought I'd try to buy a pedal off Reverb during their 3-day 0% Affirm promotion.

This shit here fucking kills me. That micro down payment is the silliest thing ever. Of course I paid it, but I don't really see how my $8.59 is really giving them much security. I can only imagine how frustrating (/) entertaining it would be to quiz their policymakers face-to-face on some of these practices.

Yea, any of it's funny - I'm magically approved for $280.40 of your $350.50 purchase!

Pay it no mind that I have a "here, have it" payment plan with a couple of the big retailers for 12/24/36. :)

Man fuck these CC companies! I keep getting sucked into the trap!! It's a fucking trap guys!!! I owe a thousand bucks right now and I have NO idea how I'm going to pay it off. I have to sell my guitar, which I just got, and I don't want to fucking sell it. Then if that doesn't work, I have to sell pedals I love. Word to the wise, save up. Fuck all this noise.

The fact that none of these actually report successful payments to your credit means there really is no benefit at all. They can only be negative on credit reports.

Best thing you can do...just save up for it.

Good luck jwar! It'll turn out ok.

See and that's fucking weird that they don't report to any credit bureaus. It literally makes no sense. I have a 5k line with Paypal and got it when I made probably the least amount of money I even had in my life. How the fuck does that work? LOL!!!

It's fucking dangerous though. I have to constantly fight the urge to buy shit. There are like 5 fucking things I want to buy right now, and I fight myself everyday about it. I keep saying "no dumb shit, you have to pay the balance off".

Yea...hate Credit Cards.

More a case of 'learn to balance' - if you can't don't have them.

When I was younger, I was an absolute menace with any credit.

Now I know my limits.
