The Dirty Robot is monophonic so let's say that with chords it "fails gracefully." If you play chords you will get flip-flopping (which can sound cool BTW) but the nice thing about the mix control is that you can mix in your dry so that you still hear the individual notes in the chord and the Dirty Robot plays a single synth note underneath.

What I just described is actually one of my personal favorite settings with the Dirty Robot. Playing arpeggios with the mix set about noon, and having the Dirty Robot sweep through a filter underneath is awesomely awesome.

Ha! "fails gracefully" perfectly describes my guitar playing!

It's also not possible to mod the Ricochet to have a dry or mix volume control and make the dry be louder I guess, right?

In my opinion it should be a Whammy thing because then, besides being the best digital pitch shifter (whammy), it will also be the best digital pitch expander (harmony) in the market since in terms of sound it does kill the competition.

Also, the octave down always sounds a bit weak in comparison to the clean sound, it would be better if it were louder so it has more balls and keeps the punch in the sound / leaves the perceived volume intact.

Anyway, it's quite a cool pedal, I might sell my Whammy 5 and go for it, who knows.

Also, will there be a bass version?
Maybe, if there is enough demand.
Oh, there will be demand.

That said, how does it track on bass in general? I'm not afraid to integrate a few "guitar effects" into my "signal chain" if they "sound cool" (especially if they "fail gracefully" if you "know what I mean.").

GawdDAMN, I am way too caffeinated right now.

Not as far as I know.

I've heard the request that players would like the harmony side of the Whammy to have mix, but I've honestly never heard that the octave down is too low. Since the Ricochet doesn't have a harmony side, I'm not convinced of the utility of a mix for the Ricochet specifically.

It should track bass as well as the Whammy V.

So would you mind having someone do a bass demo? Is that possible? Or did I miss that somehow?

Okay, now I'm lost.
I thought the dry + oct setting is like the harmony on the Whammy (with the possibility to select octave up or down), isn't that the case?

The thing with the octave down is that if you have only that and then switch off the Whammy, the sound suddenly gets much louder and more punchy.
Probably something related to psycho-acoustics, the octave down only sound is not compensated volume wise to negate this effect.

That is the case, but it is the only setting that has dry and as I already stated, I've never heard any complaints that the Octave down is too low in volume. Why would I add a mix control to fix a problem we've never heard of, and for only one setting?

We test for that, and I've never experienced what you are describing. Sorry! :idk:

I'd say that in the dry + oct setting the octave up for some purposes can be a bit too high in the mix in comparison with the dry.

That and the pure octave down are in my opinion the only two weak spots of the Whammy, but I guess everybody hears things differently, also therefore it would be cool to be able to control the mix more precisely.

You guys have some of the best sounding digital pitch shifting algorithms so if possible why not use them to the fullest?
I think people would then also be able to use the Whammy or Ricochet for what they now use their (in my opinion inferior sounding) Boss or EHX pitch shifters for.

Could be quite a market, that you're not hitting with your current products.
Not trying to poop on your party, I just can't understand why you'd leave such an opportunity behind.

I could see how for this particular pedal, less options is better. Theres sort of a tonal theme or feature set in mind though, specifically using that momentary switch.

However! I do like the idea of just a dedicated static pitch shifter/harmonizer without all the bending and gliss stuff from the whammy.

Would be amazing if it had a preset or two on footswitches but this is just a wish list type deal.

As it stands though, this looks like it will be my next pitch shifter. I don't trust ehx quality and all the spin chip based pitch shifter I've heard all sound the same. Warbly and digital.

What do you guys see as/are the differences between the Ricochet and the Pitch Fork? JUUUUUST today I was like "I want an easy tiny pitch shifter for my bass" and I was like "Whoa yeah Pitch Fork." Now it's 5 hours later and then THIS. I'm a HUGE Whammy fan... I've had IVs and Vs all up in this ass forever, but I want something small for my bass board.

So yeah first question up there.

Ricochet does things that Pitch Fork doesn't. The opposite is also right.
If you like the Whammy sound, I'll go for it.
