i dunno. streamed the new album today before mine arrives. they've DEFINITELY moved away from their beginnings.
more electronic stuff (which i don't mind at all - just very different for them.)
breaking out some oldies in ways i don't care for as much as the newsies.
we'll see... hope it grows on me...

+1 I was exhausted and i was peeved because they seemed to go on way later than they needed to but once they started playing all that went away. Visuals & sounds were rad, new songs sounded good live. & they played Subzero Fun which made me super happy.
Carla is such a killer drummer, her groove was undeniable.

I didn't like the new songs when I first heard them but they sounded good on Colbert last night. I was impressed. I like that he plays an SG too instead of the typical Jag/JM/Tele thing.

buddy of mine & his GF just backed out too.
so, four tickets...
Shit, I'm sorry dude.
The friend I was supposed to go with bailed and I'm desperately trying to find someone else within my extremely limited group of friends that'll go with me.

i love them and thought it was terrible.
so i don't feel as bad about missing their show in cleveland.
i'd rather stick w/ the sets i've loved.

Yeah, I'm still on the fence about the new album in general.
I actually liked Transit Transit (and, honestly, didn't think there was a bad song on that album), but there are some really iffy songs on this album and the new versions of the older demos feel pretty butchered, too.
The entire album would've benefited from replacing the synth parts with guitar, honestly. Just doing that would've saved it.
Oh, well. I've heard that they're still pretty much the same live, so I'm excited.

Do I have to post a photo of him playing an SG now? Or the Colbert performance when he was playing one which was what I was talking about?

Just pointing out that he also does the typical JM/Jag thing even though his main guitar is the SG.

i'm a synth junkie but don't care for what they've done w/ them so far.
also did you guys catch how much shitloads of gear they had on stage at colbert? it sounded like they needed / used about 1/20th of it.
Same, dude. The direction they've taken with the synths doesn't sound right to me.
Soft Scene, for example, I just can't like it no matter how hard I try.
In Transit Transit they, at least, managed merge synth and guitar fairly well. But with the new album they've almost completely enveloped the guitar/bass freqs with synth and it just sounds wrong.
That being said, there are still some good songs like Becker, Listen to the Order and Hamster Suite, but I don't really have any love for the singles.
