Timeline out, Nemesis in ??
Anybody switch from a Timeline to a Nemesis?
I've had a timeline for a few months, spent an entire weekend tweaking it just right to find my presets... and I think I'm just not feeling it. Really find myself only using 1 or 2 presets, not using the full potential of it, getting annoyed with menu tweaking for the stuff that is really distinctive to each preset. Thinking about flipping it and picking up a Nemesis, and looking for feedback from anybody who's made that jump or just wants to sing the praises of their Nemesis.

I've seen nothing but positive comments on the Nemesis.

No experience with the Timeline, but the Nemesis is one of the most inspirational pedals I've ever bought. I've spent hours just tweaking every little parameter I can to get as noisy as possible, but can jump to a perfectly usable setting in a heartbeat. The layout is great, and once I pick up the extra controller for scrolling presets/tap, I know this thing will never leave my board.

fucking kicked my digital delays out of the house in anticipation of one day getting a Nemesis. It looks stupid good.

I cordially invite you to fuck right off and let the rest of us talk about music like adults.- dubkitty

If you don't need the looper in the Timeline, I'd say in most cases yes.
I could have done a lot worse. Just google it, but before you do grab a bottle of jack and a revolver and prepare yourself for the event horizon.

I lovey nemesis so much. The delay has so much life in it and you can get any setting super quickly. I haven't played with the editor software yet because I'm so so happy with the stock sounds.

I'd buy a Nemesis and a Boss DD-500 in a heartbeat if they had a fucking PC editor for either.

nemesis gets nothing but love. I downloaded the app to see how deep you can get with the editing; it's not dd-500 deep but there's some cool shit you can do. if you're not afraid of menu diving, you should consider the 500. sounds great out of the box and the possibilities are nearly limitless when you start using the assign functions. (envelope control with tape delay at high feedback when strumming, then decaying into multi tap with short feedback
not to mention the plethora of 'freeze/raptio' style stuff you can pull off. you can also use 2 patches at the same time in parallel.)
i'm glad i can call you a friend. even if i'll never see you again

I'm not afraid of diving, I just can't see why it's not available for either. I love the Boss/Roland assigns (they're in my GR-55 and GT-001, and I make heavy, heavy, usage of them on both.
Envelope and LFO-controlled parameters on synth and guitar tuning is glorious.

pc editor would be tits, no doubt..
seriously, tho! that shit is nuts.. kind of wish they pushed it over the edge; I want to design the LFO waveform
or more options besides 3 would be cool. one thing that bugs me with the dd 500, is that if you use 2 patches at the same time and both have loads of assign functions, only the most recently engaged one will use the assign controls. not a deal breaker by any means, but I was getting spoiled with all of those options

Yea, the assigns are good but they're rooted in a couple generations ago of programming. They were absolutely revolutionary at the time but haven't evolved much. Perhaps on the next generation of architecture.
I'd also kill to be able to turn assigns on and off individually with a footswitch or button on the synth pickup - I can fake it with two patches, one with the assign, one without, and just flop between them, but...
I can't complain too much though, the assigns in the GT-001 made a pedal I've wanted for twenty years possible (envelope controlled panner). It's grand for simulating me being able to play guitar or keys at the same time as a phantom hand turns the knob sending the signal flying to different amps or speakers, and something I've wanted...forever.

The thing I realized about the nemesis is that you never see them used. People are holding on to them.
DD 500 seems cool but I don't want that much depth right now.

I hate, hate, hate iPhone app controlled pedals. It is my biggest gripe about the H9. I just can't stand it. I don't want to fuck with my phone when I'm playing.
The DD 500 is awesome and you can do a ton of shit without an extra interface. Not sure if you'd need a computer based program for it. I get the appeal though.

Yea, the H9 at least offers PC control.
The big thing for me on PC versus phone is that the phone app goes obsolete a LOT faster - OS changes and whatnot means that it'll be shelfware in a year unless the manufacturer is really on top of it.
Wanting it for the DD500 is simply for the ease of assign control. It's a lot easier to set up a dozen assigns when you can lay 'em out next to each other, and copy and paste particular things etc.

That makes sense! I've just never messed with them that way. Probably makes it stupid simple as opposed to using this little screen and struggling to read the damn thing and get it to respond right. Lol
