I'm aghast that nobody has yet told this poor gentleman to purchase a bitquest. LOL
That's gotta be some sort of ILF record.

Good call, congratz. I personally don't like the cleans and low gain crunch on any any dsl, at least not as much as the (semi) cleans of a pre-jcm Marshall or fender + pedlol. But the higher gains settings rule, and overal the 40c's specs just make it an excellent versatile work horse and a great bang for the buck imo...raccoondad wrote:Soooo I really appreciate all the advice buuuuut I found a used Marshall DSL 40c (not 401) and I played it and loved it and was kinda drunk bought it because that's unfortunately or fortunately how I make life decisions sometimes. How to gear: Ask for advice, get drunk, disregard advice, buy something you think is bad ass.
I fully approve. No sarcasm.

Gotta agree with Gnomethrone...you handled this exactly right. Enjoy that new amp and go buy a bitquest.

I actually really like the drive channel on the HRD ad low/medium gain. Not a fan of the "more drive" setting, but hey, seems like nobody else is either.
+1 on the Mini. Also could try running any number of ODs with little to no gain in front of the drive channel, just to see what the circuit does to the amp's existing character. People do this a lot with Tube Screamers—it's one of the only ways I ever like to use that particular pedal. Sometimes it doesn't do much for you, but other times it can tighten things up really nicely.
