Hey guys! I've been using a Squier P-Bass for ages, and it gets the job done, but I really want to get a nice 5-string. I don't want to spend more than $1000, but I also don't want to get another Squier. I was originally going to look at MIM Jazz Basses, but I thought I should check out some other stuff as well. The Godin Shifter 5 looks great in terms of tone and build quality. The Gibson EB5 also looks nice. Any thoughts would be much appreciated!
Few of these are available at local guitar shops, so I would probably have to order online, which I'm a bit nervous about. I should probably get something where I can return it, but I don't like the idea of losing an extra ~$50 if I don't like something (though it's better than having to resell it).
I need a five string bass! Gibson EB5? Godin Shifter 5?

you should check out the Reverend Mercalli 5, it's pretty sick, I haven't played either of the basses you're looking at. the shifter does look cool though. you should also check out 5 string G&Ls, I ordered a Carvin 5 string a month ago, i'll let you know if it's super sick when I get it
