I'd be interested in hearing whether Purple is so short as a reaction to the overstuffed (maybe don't use that term for it) nature of Yellow/Green. I mean, Y/G was obviously hugely long, but Purple is one of those few albums where it gets to the end and I genuinely want another song or two out of it.

Also, I'd be interested in hearing how the textures / arrangements have evolved from the recordings to the road, since Friedmann is such a "studio as instrument" guy.

And get Baizley to talk some more about Philly Fuzz - apparently he's involved, but I'm not sure how beyond painting the pedals. And are they going straight for retro point-to-point reworks, or are they going to be getting into researching / releasing original circuits (or have they already, and I just missed it because they all look like muffs to me).

EDIT: and maybe get Baizley to talk about his move to Philly - as DoS said, they were part of a really tight-knit scene. Has moving changed things for him at all, or does he see the guys enough that it's a non-issue? Does he feel connected to that scene anymore? EDITx2: I didn't even realize that he moved to Philadelphia in 2011! Whoa!

I actually think this is legitimate question, can explore if there are other concepts he wants to get into.

Don't forget the key question of hack job mastering. They'll love you for asking it. And give a great answer.

I got to see John perform his second ever solo show down here in NZ with Scott Kelly, playing some of the Yellow/Green material before its release. I actually preferred that stuff with just his voice and guitar, he was also endearingly nervous about playing by himself. I'm curious what he took from those experiences and if he'd want to do something as sparse or solo in the future, also do all these metal dudes just want to be Townes Van Zandt?

Maybe ask them about the Anselmo thing for the clickbait. Haha.
I saw that tour and honestly thought he was going to do a solo album. I did not expect it to end up being yellow/green.
It was much better in that really stripped down format.
Maybe ask if they are considering working in a very minimal, stripped back way like that again?

To be honest though I much preferred the density and layering of red and blue.

Maybe ask him about his take on "heavy" music?
When Opeth released Heritage I read an interview with Akerfeldt and he was pissed that Opeth fans were shitty at how unmetal it was, and his response was "don't try to tell me what's metal" or something.
I suppose that question might be leading/provocative but I think it's valid given the progressive change in direction from First to Purple.

Then ask him if he has any left over drawings/doodles he can throw my way for a tattoo....

Honestly if I were you I'd avoid the bus crash and line up changes questions. They've answered them a million times by now.

Was it a conscious decision to start sucking ass or just a natural progression?

noted but inevitable I think :idk:

I don't think there has been an interview about it conducted here. Now - I will be talking to him in English, obviously, but the video will have Czech subtitles :idk:

Ha seems like a completely different person than I've met

he seemed a little distant and I had a strange feeling he was being a smartass or rather that I had dumb fucking questions but after watching the footage back, I reckon that was just me being nervous.

although I did have some dumb questions

in person he seemed like a pretty sharp person, a little more reserved than I expected him to be but pretty nice in general... It was just a little tainted by my struggle

I will post the interview once it's ready and published

I wonder if John is a lurker? Seems like he would be the type to peek in on our shenanigans.

Or hes spaceritual, as I've suspected for some time.
