one fuzz to rule them all
Looking for a bass fuzz that cuts through – the two things that come up are a separate mids control or a wet/dry blend.
Does any pedal have both?
I found plenty of one or the other while some pedals have a switch for a mids boost or are wired for more pronounced mids.
Poking around forums, etc., here’s the names that came up a few times -
smallsound/bigsound team awesome! fuzzmachine
Wren and Cuff Pickle Pie B
Wounded Paw Attack Goat Bass Fuzz
Blackout Effectors Musket Fuzz
Fuzzrocious Grey Stache
I then emailed the fine folks at Fuzzrocious and Ryan can put a wet/dry blend on a Grey Stache and that, so far, is the most appealing option.
Any pedal that should be on the list?
Yes, always an option to have an effects loop with a fuzz and eq but I’m trying to go for less on my pedalboard than more.

I tried the TAFM on bass, didn't like it at all, it sounded a bit weak, more like an overdrive than a fuzz.
The best fuzz I heard on bass so far is the SS/BS Buzzz.

Are we going based on that list and that list alone? I'll be the first to say the TAFM is not the end all of bass fuzzes. I like it, but not enough to say that.
I would say the Prescription Electronics Depth Charge is my top fuzz for bass of all time. It has such a good mix of the fuzz and clean that it's ridiculous. Excane where are you?? You've used this shit in a band, I know it. So talk about you it lurker bastard.
Anyway, it's out of production, so that makes it hard to find now. Which sucks.
Out of your list though the TAFM is the most versatile, but Ryan from Fuzzrocious can also make that muff pretty versatile. So it kind of depends on the sound you want.

MXR has wet/dry.
I haven't found the perfect fuzz pedal and yield to the idea that good equalization is handled separately. After all what is clipping but a degradation of tone.
I like Mastotron but has neither wet dry nor mids.

I've had the fever forever. Tried it in a local shop. Was blown away. Yet, I haven't required one. Shame. Shame. Shame.Eric! wrote:Really feelin Frazz fever latelygoroth wrote:Frazz
