Is it possible to make rap-rock NOT shitty?

Post by neonblack »

Real talk.

Why does it just not work? Why can't I just play fuzzy bass for a rapper?

P.O.S. (and death grips but i kind of think of them as their own thing) is the only example I can think of where it actually works, and I'm sure many will disagree.

Side note: anyone here spit hot fire?

Ever listen to the mash up album some one made of Fugazi and Wu-Tang? It's called Wugazi and it's pretty great.

Why does it have to be rock rap? Why not just hip hop and use fuzz and envelope like crazy.

Check some Kool Keith's bass lines. Not played on a bass but still, Blue Flowers.

Oh and the closest thing to a rock rap group that I've heard be successful is the Beastie Boys and Rage Against the Machine.
