question for anyone w/ JamMan soloXT & Korg Volcas

Post by darthbatman »

Hey just a shot in the dark here but I figured someone on ILF may own and use both the new jamman solo with jamsync and the korg volca series.
Would you be able to utilize the jamsync feature to send tempo between the jamman and the volca via its similar 1/8 sync jack?
I know that the sync out of the volca sends a tiny audio pulse to sync to other volcas but i wonder if it's a similar mechanic in the jamman's sync feature.
if they are in any way compatible then that would be above and beyond awesome.

anybody? Anybody got one of these new JamMan solo XT pedals? if you do, could you maybe stick some headphones into the jamsync jack and describe the sound that comes out?

I'd love to try this out, but I don't have a Volca!

I don't know the real nitty gritty on JamSync but I do know it's very close to MIDI. If you plug headphones in just right, you hear a steady heartbeat pulse, as well as pulses for start/stop.

Okay cool see that sounds very similar to the tiny electronic pulse used in the volcas.
I have an echoplex looper that i'm already experimenting with syncing to the volca beats thru midi,
if i were to get the jamman as well that would let me save multiple step sequenced loops and add a lot of tempo control capabilities
thanks man

That echoplex looper should Sync without Problems to The volca. I use a lexicon jamman and that Works very good.

yah it does provide accurate clock to the drum machine based on the loop time i establish with my foot,
i was thinking it would be cool to involve a second looper that ideally could also sync with both. i think i'd have
better control of tempo that way if the jamman does tap tempo. plus i could make longer crazier drum parts. yeah!

I can confirm that the jamman sync doesn't work with the volcas... :(

The only way to sync them is using this: http://www.customliveelectronics.com/en ... -midi-korg

Yo, I have the JamMan Solo XT. Do not have the volca, but tried my PO12 on it and it wouldn't sync in any of the modes. Seems to respond best to 5v CV.
