Rhythm in a Pedal

There's only one hole left in my pedal heart. And it's a rhythmic one.

What's out there? I've owned a MIDI MuRF, pitchfactor, Shapeshifter, TR-2, and probably one or two other choppy devices. Some of them are too huge/expensive to keep around. But I need something like that. The best bet right now seems like the new Hologram Electronics Dream Sequence, but it is 1) pretty big, 2) hella expensive, 3) not black (though that can be changed).

Am I missing anything? What do you people use to inject some percussive stuff into your playing?

you could try a GK3 if you find it 'cheap enough'; I thought it was perfect for this sort of thing. dream sequence seems like the ULTIMATE when it comes to stuff like this tho. there's also cooper fx's AARP

Gravitas is a contender! Can it do weird rhythms and hard chop? SL-20 seems cool, but...I dunno. Got a CT5 already, too--how do you use it rhythmically, UC? It can do strange loops, but I'm thinking more like sequencer/arpeggiator stuff. I'll check out the AARP, too.

A lot of the quantizations in mode 1 are very rythmic. Especially on longer delay times. I'm not going to claim that I know/understand the ins of and out of the CT5, but I do recall feeling the groove of those delay feedbacks. The modulation on the BitQuest delay patch is also very snappy and exciting to play around with.

SL-20 is good, but it's very easy to fall into a trap of sounding totally techno.

An EHX 8-step with any number of pedals with expression/CV input works great. I use mine with an MF Ring and a Boss DD-7 for rhythmic stuff. I imagine it's great with pitch shifters too and would be much more versatile than the arpanoid, I use a molten midi sequencer with the Whammy to the same effect - I love it!

Split the signal. Use the Ct5 to do some fun loops. Passive ring mod Ct5 loops with the original signal.

Yep. Use my BQ for this often--good idea. I feel good about 'creating grooves,' or whatever that might be called. Between the CT5, BQ, and DD-7, I've got some good tools for adding sound...but there's something missing.

Basically, I'm hoping someone can help replicate the old days when I'd just tune an oscillating fuzz or resonant filter, then run it through a filter bank/arpeggiator/fancy trem, loop that, and play around with it. I'll look up the suggestions.





Seems like I just need to buy the fucking Dream Sequence. Pitch, freeze, and trem are all things I need.

That Dream Sequence thing seems to sound quite crappy though, going from the videos.
