... but the Smiths are awesome. Been listening to the self-titled, and the queen is dead the most.

i have a couple of their albums but i only like that song Headmasters Ritual. i really think its either/or with the Smiths there's no in b/w: either you like hardcore rabid Morrissey fan or you think all Smiths fans are a bunch of whiny losers.

Smiths are pretty groovy. I always respected and liked them a lot, but never went crazy addicted to them like people always said I would. Johnny Marr is crazy on the Ric's though, he's got those really quick chords that just make me wonder. There's a lot to learn from that guy, to be honest.

I could listen to the Smiths if you could somehow erase Morrissey

Re: so I realize I'm totally late to the party...
Hands down one of my favourite bands.
I think "Hatful Of Hollow" is probably my favourite, it's a collection of singles and bsides from the S/t, Meat Is Murder era... It's also got Handsome Devil on it.. definitely my favourite song.
Johnny's Riffs are too good to be true. Read into that guys guitar production, it's absurd. This Charming Man has some absurd number of guitar tracks, if i'm not mistaken the intro riff is Johnny layered 7 times
i want to be him in the worst ways.
Moz too.
oh man.

I've got a fuzzbox and i'm not afraid to use it

In fact, I'm sure I'd like to listen to the Smiths if someone would just take Morrissey outside and shoot him.
Put him out of my misery.
That guitar riff with the multiple Twin Reverb tremolos is cool.

The Smiths fucking rule.
Morrissey is kind of gay and annoying, though, actually... He has some solo songs that I fucking love, but, in general, Moz-solo just isn't the same as The (fucking!) Smiths.
Also: I am a dirty, dirty gay. Are you surprised that I think The Smiths is the best band ever? SHUDDUP.

Morrissey is perfect.
I love that dude. All of his solo records are incredible, though i agree Alain and Boz are certainly no Johnny Marr.
Ringleader of the Tormentors is an incredible record. I know, I know, it's newer and all that, more rock'n'roll but holy fuck dude, a record about how Morrissey has finally stopped being celibate and found love after 25 years is a pretty incredible thing. Life is A Pigsty is one of the best songs Morrissey has ever sang on.
I'm probably the biggest Morrissey fan i know.
Sometimes his lyrics bug me (Some girls are bigger than others )
seriously he could have sang about something that matters and not ruined an incredible Johnny song. But lyrics like in Reel Around The Fountain totally make up for it.
"I dreamt about you last night
And I fell out of bed twice
You can pin and mount me like a butterfly "
fucking brilliant.
In fact i have 3 smiths cds and 3 morrissey solo cd's in my car at all times. for two years now.

Some Girls is just about my favourite guitar part ever. Theres something about the way the melody line twists and turns that makes it unforgettable. If I coud write a guitar part like that I would die happy. And at least the lyrics are not depressing! But the S/T or Hatful are my fave, but I really like Strangeways also.
buncha stuff...

Who? your town's local Smiths-fag? Yeah. You learn to embrace it. <3
I only own two Smiths/Morrissey items, the live Smiths album, Rank, and this, which I'm playing RIGHT NAO:

so tasty... actually, I only really care about the two tracks which are already included on Bona Drag, but whatever.
