Strymon Deco? Other Options for ADT

Post by jellyfishfuzz »

I wish they just made the right side. I dont need the saturation side. I just cant get it out of my head that i could get these sounds. So fuckin pricey though specially without using half the pedal. What are some other options for these Double Tracking Chorus Flangin sounds?

It's a pretty cool pedal, I usually just use the saturation side as a boost, though.
The only other thing I've seen that's comparable is a Polyflange.
I think the TC Electronics SCF might get close, too.
Since I always forget:

Second for Keeley, I owned a seafoam chorus plus, witch has the modern mode for ADT and it sounded lush as all hell

I understand Catalinbread's Zeropoint flanger is supposed to emulate that type of flanging as well...but I think its a momentary footswitch only or something weird. Can't remember exactly.

The ME8 has 2 ADT modes and 6 modes for echo/verb. I imagine with the repeats set near minimum you could get a variety of pseudo-modulation textures. I used the aforementioned Keeley ADT with some multihead delays, and I thought it sounded great. They're supposed to be releasing a V2 of the Keeley ADT sometime this year, but I'd probably still endorse the ME8 simply for versatility.

TCE just teased a new doubler called the Mimiq. Instead of marketing it to Beatles and ADT lovers, their initial promos are geared to the metal crowd.

Since it will likely be $129 or less, that would make it the cheapest doubling option available on the current market. I imagine I'll snag one to try with ambient synths and electric piano textures at the end of the year.

Ye olde Boss Digital Metalizer does two types of stereo doubling + chorus, can be tamed for cleans (w/ an EQ pedal - see 4:03 below), and will probably cost you about $50 - 70 USD:

Maybe not ideal, but

I bet this would be a shit ton of fun with synths. Imagine running a sawtooth mono bass patch through this and playing with the tightness knob at the same time. Dank.

i'm tempted to use the MIMIQ as a splitter for two different amps w/ some added stereo spread. I've actually been thinking about doing something similar with a DECO, but it's just so damn pricey if that's all i'm going to use it for.

Totally. this thing would have been a god send to me 10 years ago when I was running two amps in a two-man sludge/thrash band. I used a short delay line instead but what I really wanted was this idea.

Fuck it, I still have multiple amps....
