I have some recordings that do utilize it, they are drenched in other shit though. I'll have a go at just recording something more or less direct for full experience. Might take a day or so..

Yeah, that's definintely interesting. :snax:

I just looked at a map and Rebersburg is located in the middle of PA, very close to Penn State. Also, a quick Google search reveals that Vetter products were popular for recording medical data.

...and speaking of Sun Ra, this came up in my Sun Ra ring mod search:

That dude used to be my neighbor when I lived in Cambridge.

This also came up:

So much good stuff on this page. Gotta have demos crochambeau!

Good find on the Moog, Chankgeez! It sounds great (and I guess is an example of waveshaping via ring mod).

Been messing with passive ones lately (took one vid off the last page...makes more sense in this post).

I do have a helmet like that I have been thinking of turning into a ring mod. It has skulls on it though (and I think it is a controller helmet from a carrier).

I'm working on coughing up a demo of the Vetter stuff, slow as usual...

It may disappoint (since it's not designed to exhibit modulation, you can just trick some artifacts out of it), though the really SLOW speed is nice and ethereal.

Nah, it won't disappoint. Documentation is awesome...and it is something new. That is pretty damn neat.

Ring mod this? Image

Yep, ring mod that! :!!!:

Don't know if you wanna add these custom DBA to the list, galvar:

Image

"MACRO RINGER RING MODULATOR WITH 3 SWITCHABLE LOW PASS FILTERS. COMPLETELY PASSIVE RING MODULATOR SO INPUTS MUST BE ACTIVE TO MAKE SOUND. THIS ONE FILTERS CAN DO SOME GREAT THINGS WITH THE LOOP OF A TSA BY PULLING OUT CERTAIN FREQUENCIES AND WARPING THE EFFECT."

Image

"MICRO RINGER. PASSIVE RING MODULATOR WITH DIFFERENT SOUNDS DEPENDING ON WHAT JACK IS PLUGGED IN. SO IT ACTS AS SIX DIFFERENT RING MODULATORS IN ONE. NO BATTERIES AND PURE ANALOG SOUND."

Looks like they've made other ring mods as well. :snax:

Will add them and that one built into a fuse box that is on eBay. Might as well document them! Haha.

Umm...I think the Seppuku one is related more to the holowan thermal wave than ring mod (though still very different from the holowan...way more range and sounds, but similar in action)...making it a form of FM...which is still cool, just different.

I'd really love to finally see the guts for them one day.

They are probably diode rings with passive low pass filters.

Nothing complicated.

The results from trying to figure things out are usually cooler than looking at exact copy, in my opinion. :idk: Be creative and figure out new ways to do things instead of going down a path already walked.
