EQD Bit Commander- Is there a pedal that does the Base OD?

Post by helland »

I have been infatuated with the OD sounds from the Bit Commander. I could just buy the dang thing, but I'd never use the other functions.
Is there a pedal that sounds like that?

Well, the Base knob on the Bit Commander (I have it) just gives you a squarewave version of your original signal (I'm not big on the technicalities), so I'd guess any squarewave fuzz would get you close.

Basic Audio makes one (Squarewave+), as does/did Dreadbox/Freqbox (Square Tides). Probably a bunch more I don't know about.

I emailed them directly and they said the only thing that makes that sound is the Bit Commander.

I'll try the square wave and see if that does it.

I don't get why you wouldn't just buy the Bit Commander if it already has the sound you like? Anything that sounds similar would probably cost the same or more.
