I've had a hard time finding something to,suit my needs in this regard.
I'm looking for a pedalboard with 5-6 switches to trigger drum samples. Just a crash, kick, hat, toms. Maybe 1-2 others. I'd like to not need a computer live. Something I can load the samples into and then step on the switch for the corresponding sound. For reference, think Khanate or Monarch, but a solo thing.
Any ideas that aren't hopelessly complicated?

Best bet might be to find a used Boss sampler and then get a behringer FCB1010 or similar lower budget midi controller to trigger the samples on the sampler.

You're looking at this cart before horse.
First, you need to figure out what sampler you want to use, then figure out what footswitch options it supports.

If you have very accurate feet you could probably use an Akai MPX8

Yeah you should think of the sampler first. There's plenty of midi controller options. The akai mpx8 is a cheap sampler that you can load your own samples on via sd card and has midi connectivity.

Not sure what qualifies as "hopelessly complicated" but you could do this with an arduino and wave shield: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-wav ... o/overview

I've got an Akai MPX8 mint in box I could let go of, if that would scratch your itch. I used it as a tabletop sampler, but it should work with your toes.
