I'd buy one if they remade it. Seems like all the gear I should have bought in the 90's is coming back now.

Honestly, it doesn't look like the most difficult thing in the world to mod a XP400 to a XP300. Would just have to add one memory chip and change the EPROM. Starting to seriously consider doing this because $500 is too much.

I had an XP300... I laughed when you said "$500 is too much" then I looked at ebay... it's crazy how the price has jumped in 2 years.
I thought I would love it, but it was so limited, sounded shrill, hardly any movement in the expression pedal, didn't play well with other pedals. Just a poor pedal all around imo. I'd be interested to see how a reissue compares, wouldn't be hard to heat the original. It's a great idea and super cool for a day or two.

Didn't our new Digitech friend say that the chips that were used are rare or something? Or was that the Timebender?

No It was the Space Station.
viewtopic.php?f=149&t=51032&hilit=dod+f ... 0#p1065097
"The Space Station used a rare DSP with proprietary code that cannot be easily converted to new DSP's."
I think the "cannot be easily converted" part left it open and people hopeful.

I don't know what chips he is specifically talking about. Maybe the memory chips? Those NEC ones seem to be getting rarer, but not like they can't find an alternative.Eivind August wrote:Didn't our new Digitech friend say that the chips that were used are rare or something? Yeah, I think the reason the Timebender was discontiniued so quick, was because it was an okay pitch shifter instead of a great delay pedal

I signed! I believe this is used by Radiohead so maybe this should be posted on a Radiohead fansite!

What I've wondered is why they didn't try to emulate the Space Station sounds in their RP line. I would thought that the cheapest way to do it. I'd imagine AudioDNA2 is far more advanced than the Space Station DSP...

Same reason the Space Station hasn't been reissued. Why spend time/resources reproducing something that the market rejected?frankz00 wrote:What I've wondered is why they didn't try to emulate the Space Station sounds in their RP line. I can provide the eprom burning service. I don't supply the eprom, but I can guide you as to what to purchase, you send it to me, I burn it, I mail it back to you. The service is free, but I do require a 5$US payment for the return postage anywhere in North America.frankz00 wrote:Any info on where to get the EPROM? That's all I need!
I have all the XP model codes, including for the all in one XP-ALL+.
If you want more info, PM me.
BTW, which model XP will you be installing the 300 chip into?

Re: Digitech XP300 Space Station Petition!
There is no evidence of Radiohead ever using a Space Station. They all used the Whammy a ton, several other large 90's effects pedals (Lovetone), and even a Roland Guitar Synth, but never a Space Station.JereFuzz wrote:I signed!
