remotes with 1/4" output

Post by Confuzzled »

we're in the hospital (3rd daughter just arrived) , and the tv remote plugs into the wall with a 1/4" male Jack. think this can work with a pedal? I can't upload the pic from my phone but will later on.

You probably could, I'd assume you'd just hear clicks though. Is it TRS or TS?

Congrats on the kid!

As an apprentice electrician in a hospital, it probably wont do anything interesting if you're thinking of using the remote as an output, just pops, as DRodriguez said.

If you want to use it to control the parameters of a pedal, you'd have to install either relays or digital potentiometers depending on what you'd want to control

*edit Congrats BTW

Congrats!

So, what happens to the TV when you slap a fuzz in between the remote and the wall?

If it is a CRT on the other end, watch out for the authorities....don't want to mess with the program. That is where the signal to trigger fluoride mind control is piped in. Maintain status quo*

Congrats!

*no, I don't believe this...just messing around.

thanks all! what I found interesting was that the remote has the 1/4", controls the tv, but also has a speaker for the tv audio, and a headphone input. can't wrap my head around how it's doing all of that with one plug.

How many rings does it have? if it is tip ring sleeve, it could be sending mono audio signal from the tv to the remote on one of them, remote controls on one, and the last being a ground.

2 rings. I was thinking of bringing a battery powered delay and a patch cable and see if I can play with the signal if it set it up for multiple repeats.... With my luck a nurse will think I brought a bomb into the hospital.
