Memory Man farting out :(
So today at practice my DMM (big box 2000s) started making really unpleasant crackling/noisy sounds. The repeats would turn into terrible noise and become unusable. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm gonna try using the wall wart instead of the PP2 adapter and see if that fixes it, but I've been using the adapter for weeks with no problems up until this point. It doesn't always happen, but it definitely isn't in proper shape to use during our set. If it's too much trouble I might just hauk it off for cheap and pick up something else, but I'd like to keep using it if possible.

If you want to put some money into it I would recommend sending it to Howard Davis, the man who created the pedal. He does mods that really make the DMM come to life. Perhaps a service and some calibration would make it right again. But on the other hand, maybe you just want to dump it and move on to other gear, which is totally reasonable too depending on how you already felt about the DMM sound and current other gear lust.

I was looking at dumping it for something with presets, so this might just be an excuse to do so. I'd rather not ship it off and pay a bunch of money for something that may or may not break down again.

His page is quite informative and entertaining, even for people who just want to read up on the history of EHX and his career as an engineer.codetocontra wrote:If you want to put some money into it I would recommend sending it to Howard Davis, the man who created the pedal. So I just tried it again using the stock power supply and I didn't have the horrible noise. Not sure what exactly my issue is at this point. Occasionally it would kinda get funky but seems fine for the most part. I'm still probably gonna ditch it in favor of something less finicky.
