Anyone have a fender reverb unit?
I was wondering how these sound compared to the onboard reverb on something like a DR or twin reverb? Is it super massive even compared to the big verb on these amps? Any pre-amp kinda sound from the unit that drives the amp a bit?

I take it you refer to the 6G15? I've built a couple. The slap/twang you get from turning the Dwell control up has no analog in the standard onboard spring reverbs of any amp I've used. That is not the same as saying it's bigger, I don't feel they are, but they have more range in terms of the attack of the verb, which really lends it character, plus there's a dedicated tone control so you position it between bright and dark.

It's not an amp reverb. World of difference. If you want that Fender amp reverb sound, it's not really in the outboard tanks.
The tanks have not only a particular preamp sound but an overall impact on the sound that just isn't the built-in verb.
Owned several in my travels.
These days, since I wouldn't be kicking a tube unit these days anyway, using one of the Boss pedal versions and 100% happy. It's dumb good.
Comparison videos abound on YT at this point.
