delay to replace big box DMM

Well, it aint exactly a replacement for a DMM (nothing is) nor is it pedal board friendly...but the Moogerfooger 104m is the only delay I'm prepared to mention in the same sentence...
Although the Catalinbread Belle Epoch is an interesting alternative...IMO obv

Yeah, I have one. Not sure how many are floating around, maybe I have the only one? But I can vouch for its quality and sound. It's the standard by which I guage all other delays. Though, I think my footswitch is dying. Easy fix. It's built on a Dirt baby board, for what that's worth.

That's the first foot switch I've ever had go bad to my knowledge

The madbean dirt baby is a very close shout for the deluxe memory man
Anyone with access to the madbean pcbs can build you one or I would be able to also.

Feel free to pm me if you need advice or want to go down that route.

Madbean also has boards for the DMM clone again using mn3005 chips
I have a couple of those but am yet to build one !

There's also the new XVive Memory, designed by the person who designed the original Memory Man... It's pretty new so there are not a lot of reviews/opinions on this one though.

as a person who has owned a vintage DMM, it is tough. It was my favourite delay of all time, BUT I would gladly recommend two of my other favourites

1) EQD Disaster Transport - beautifully modulated and haunting in a similar way to the DMM. I had V1 without the tone knob which had less headroom, I believe that turning down the Tone on V2 would get you to more soupy, washy delay clouds you are used to with the DMM

2) Wampler Faux Tape Echo. NOT the tap one. Had a V2 I bought from Kayzer and it was probably the most versatile simple delay pedal I've ever played. The tone knob is amazing. The modulation is great. Can have a lot of headroom for washy walls of delay with the tone down.

I had an Echo Puss during my "too broke for DMM" days (still too broke but somehow I own one?) And it sounded amazing but turned into hot poop whenever you hit it with dirt. DMM breaks up a little, but in a sexy way. EP just turns to shit.

Call me crazy, but I find the Boss Dm-2w custom mode has a DMM vibe. My DMM is the true-bypass big box (probably 2000s.)

Huh, weird. I haven't had that issue. Were you just slamming the front of it really hard? I've used fuzzes, rats, boosts in f don't of mine, and no big issues that I've noticed.

It was mainly using standard-issue pedals (Rat, Muff, Tubescreamer) at home jamming levels and it would just crap out. I remember mine being okay at oscillating though. I might have had a wonkily calibrated pedal!

I a/b'd a modern dmm and the disaster transport sr. Ended up with the dt. Seemed as lush, but less wooly. Self modulates like a champ too.
