I really like newer NIN, even with my previous comments on Hesitation Marks.

Same, the Beside Your in Time DVD is great. Although it was light on Fragile material, not sure if that was true of that whole tour, though.Faldoe wrote:I wish I would have seen them around the With Teeth tours.

Re: NIN in 2016
hyperbole
I meant more in terms of sound to previous NIN albums. From PHM to The Fragile, every LP threw out the sound of the last record, and built something new. Not revolutionary in a political sense, or even relative to music as a whole. Reznor's influences are clear. There's a whole lot of borrowed concepts in NIN to begin with (as there is in all music), but I do think TDS and TF were exceptional orchestrations of those concepts.

Yeah okay
i just feel that their albums since Fragile onwards are better then the previous material
looking forward to another album and another tour. Finally saw them at the last one and it was such a great experience...

i still think the fragile is awesome but haven't liked anything of his after that.kaeth wrote:Yeah, sorry. Bad joke. I just feel like every album up until The Fragile was pretty much revolutionary, and every album since has been re-hashing the same ideas. I really want to be excited about new NIN. I remember how good that feels. I just can't help but expect With Teeth 5 now. I hope I'm wrong.

Yeah there was a lot of frequent touring around that era, and that line up was pretty good live, but the Fragile line up and touring cycle era may have just pipped it at the post.Faldoe wrote:I wish I would have seen them around the With Teeth tours.
That band for With Teeth is pretty much half of A Perfect Circle during the 13th Step era and they were great at that time.
Also, Josh Freese is the nicest guy on the planet.

The With Teeth tour line up was good (and seeing Queens of the Stone Age + Autolux open was amazing) but nothing compares to when I saw them on the Fragile tour. Always great live no matter what though. The Fragile was also the last album I liked all the way through. Some good songs here and there after but nothing has blown me away.
