This is about the nicest thing I've ever read about Zeibek (and whatever they were called prior) and Oz.Dude flaked out on a lot of very vocal people, if I remember correctly.
Yeah that happened.
I was late to the zeibek party, so I'm just hunting and never got burned.
They/he were called Music Electronix before Zeibek. The name changed after the first time he cracked under the pressure, the second time it was all over. Real shame as his pedals were pretty good despite their simplicity. I still have my old Gemini Drive and think it sounds really good.
I'll add Frostwave to the list. I want a Resonator and a Sonic Alienator so bad, but just can't justify the prices they go for these days.
I loved the Submarine when it first came out. I also had one of the GeminiDrives at one point, didn't click as well with that one. I really lucked out with him, never really got screwed over. Didn't someone eventually clone the Submarine? I forget who did that and what they called it, I'd love to pick one up
Frostwave is a good one. I had a Sonic Alienator for a while, and it was amazing, but I couldn't justify keeping it with the prices they were fetching. Always wanted to try a Resonator, too.
Here's one I just thought of, Chunk Systems, remember them? I had a Brown Dog way back in the day and also played around with their Octavius Squeezer for a bit.
Anyone mention Prescription Electronics? His line was great, his communication and customer service from what I've heard (not experienced) were less so. Still the Depth Charge is one of my favorites!

I think the Yardbox and Experience were many players' first encounters with the boutique market. The Throb was a Pulsar clone before EHX reissued it. They were perhaps the first of the Portland builders (pre-CBread, pre-Malekko, pre-Deville, pre-Lightfoot, etc.), and at some point they announced a name change, but seem to have disappeared from the scene. Their old HQ fuzzbox.com remains inactive.

Gone Fission and Hyphen Nation mentioned PE as well.
Was not aware Prescription had gone under. One of their uni vibe clones was high on my list for consideration back when I was in the market for a board-friendly version with 1:1 circuitry. IIRC the company was still in business at the time, although in an idle phase of activity.
Then again, it may have been after the last pedal had been built, sold... who knows.
Frostwave is prob the one which hurts me most

i was dating charlie's (snarling dogs) daughter for most of high school (we lived in the same town) but we split up during our sophomore and some of junior year and that's when he passed away. his wife sold the company not too long afterwards as she lacked the knowledge about the business. the whole family is super smart and really sweet. kind of strange that now i'm making pedals after this connection when i also learned how to play piano at their house, on their piano... life is weird.
There once was the Bixonic Expandora...Then it got sold to some giant megaconglomerate...then there was the Bixonic Expandora II...now there is nothing.

There have been whispers that a new revision of the GK is coming out this year or something, who knows though.
Weird that Skychord is back under KCP. Not sure if those drone boxes at analogue haven are just old stock or what, they had a ton of Cloudbusters for a while until some people on ILF (including me) bought out their remaining stock.

Dude works for Malekko now, he made stuff like the Foxtrot and the Scrutator. He told me that he was going to make a 10th anniversary GK3/4, but that never amounted to much.
