Added a dedicated GK-3 (guitar, not bass - BASS WILL NOT WORK due to string spacing) pickup to the VI. Thanks to ordering direct from Japan, saved almost a hundred bucks on the damn pickup (just under half off).
Now I can play with worlds of guitar synth fun on my favorite range of Fender instruments.
Minimal adjustment required (only thing with using the GK3 versus the B's bulb, for the dedicated crazies, you can swap the GK3 pickup element and add it to the GK3-B bass bulb, is you have to up the string sensitivity a hair, but easy enough).
Tracking is as I remembered when I put it on for the afternoon a few years back, only better because I was willing to take the half hour to do a proper setup versus "throw it on and see if it works). The ability to mix in a little legit bass pickup makes the upright bass models that were satisfying but not quite there on the Jaguar-mounted version was worth the price of admission alone.
Like the non-moved trem variants of the other offsets, you can't use the strap mount GK method and have to screw/doublesided tape it to the guitar body. No big deal on a $350 instrument, but....I might have cringed a little on a custom shop model (oh, fuck it, I'd have plastered it with stickers and tossed two pickups on a $3k guitar!).
