Ahh geeez. Missing serial keys for old boxed PC games really sucks.

Just got the witcher 3. Couple of hours in and loving it! Very impressive quality, it looks amazing, and though I'm still terrible at it the combat seems fun.

I wish I could enjoy those games. I just can't stand Geralt. One of the worst videogame personalities I've ever come across.

Hmm, haven't really played much to find out a lot about him other than he is Stoic, Gritty and Tough as per usual for game/action movie heroes.

It's just super ironic that in a world full of interesting characters and personalities, you get to play a disinterested and irritated bore with the personality of a brick.

That does sound annoying. I guess I'll find out in a bit whether it gets to me!

I can understand why they might do it though, I imagine there's probably a large urge when creating a player character not to have too many strong personality traits in case it annoys people. Bland is probably safer from that perspective. Maybe he's like that in the books too.

Oh, he is. I just think it's lazy writing/playing it too safe. :idk:

I don't disagree at all. That sort of (non-) character is far too common in games, films, books of certain genres... It's a shame it continues to be successful (and here's me, buying this game and contributing to the whole thing. :erm: ) because I'd much rather see interesting characters or at the very least a larger list of boring archetypes to choose from.

I'm not saying I only play games with interesting characters either, haha. It's just that the Witcher games have such great characters populating its world that Geralt sticks out like a sore thumb, to the point that I personally can't enjoy playing as him. The games are really good though, so I don't blame you for enjoying it one bit! It just seems like such a missed opportunity. Maybe I'm just old and grouchy.

Isn't that the thing with being a Witcher? Genetically altering and dulling your personally and emotions?

is anyone else annoyed at physical releases of PC games nowadays often just being a dvd with an installer and like 20% of the actual data?
i like buying physical copies because my internet connection is unreliable at best and i'd like to not have to wait a few days and keep close track of my download cap just to play a game i paid for, but i'm yet to find anything with a huge file size where there's been a blu ray release or enough dvd's to cover the file size.
like Mad Max was 4 discs and it still needed an extra 14gb download to complete it.. whyyyyyyy are we still using DVD's in 2015... anyone with a decent enough computer to run this shit can get or will already have a blu ray drive.. there has to be something i'm missing..

Vesemir manages to be both a witcher and an interesting character. Geralt does not, IMO.
