EHX 8-Step And Delay?

Post by odontophobia »

Anybody try this out? There's not a single video of it anywhere. I know it's compatible with the Flashback x4 and I'm really interested in the capabilities of this "sequencer" in this context.
There isn't a single video or demo out there for this and it's kind of weird. Maybe the application is impractical, I'm not sure, but if anybody has an 8-Step and a compatible delay I'd love some samples.

probably because it would just sound like random delay time changes, which would sound like a garbly mess

Random delay time changes are the best! I used to run a drum machine into the trigger input on a DSD-3 for garbly amazingness.

For realsies, why isn't the 8-step getting more love? It seems like a great pedal. If I remember right the early ones had some quality control issues, but that could've been just general EHX issues?

I'm stoked for random delay when my particle gets here

But yeah the step seems rad, if I had a lot of exp and cv equipped pedals I would be all over it

I've seen videos of it used with the Minibrute so I'm sort of interested in it's potential as a sequencer. but not enough to pull the trigger.....

Yeah. the EHX website has tons of stuff with the RTG and some other pedals but I really want to see this with delay. I don't presently own anything else that can utilize this but I think for cool delay stuff it might be useful and it would certainly have a wide open palette somewheres down the line if I ever pull the trigger on some other stuff.

I wasn't referring to delay necessarily. Just in general. Maybe I should pick one up.

That demo video was definitely very cool. Makes me want to have my M5 back. Unfortunately the one I had constantly shorted out which I read was a huge problem with those so that's a bummer.

I'm still itching to see this just with a delay but I have a feeling that it might be somewhat underwhelming.

I've recently pulled the trigger on an 8 step and a boss DD-7. If people are still interested I can make a demo video when it arrives.
I've also got an MF Ring, Sunsine Harmonic Decoder and Zvex super seek wah to try out with it if anyone's interested in how these work together.
