the term kind of covers most modern Japanese music to some extent, even some of Boris' sludgier rock stuff could technically be called J-Pop.
the only thing i categorize by is the vocal component/melody really, there's all sorts of experimental producers flooding into pop music over there, everywhere to some extent. everything is vague but that's cool.

Well, I'm not going to post Perfume because everyone should know Perfume and just how perfect their music is.

My friend is super into this alt-idol shit though, I enjoy some of it but nearly to the level he does.

Hes way super into Psybou Kanojo. Somehow crosses Melt-Banana with Idol. I don't know. It's cool though.

other than anime themes I don't like much Jpop that sounds like what Jpop sounds like when I think of what Jpop should sound like vs bands from Japan that I like :idk:

nice stuff ST, thanks :)* i'm definitely huge on the alt-idol thing as of late, anything mathy or noisy or gazey but with ridic catchy vocal melodies = :love: i'd rather listen to stuff like that that's actually meant to be pop music than a lot of the watered down shit that gets passed off as math rock or shoegaze or whatever nowadays.

Look, I can't fucking find the song on youtube because there is only shitty covers, osu, and nightcore versions (BURN IN HELL), but the song Click by ClariS is like the perfect pop song. So good.
