Re: Judder vs. Particle
here are two very different ways to use the Judder in a more musical less demo way haha

Re: Judder vs. Particle
Thanks Uncle Grandfather, Dungus and UglyCasanova for the breakdowns and descriptos.
I've found the UG & UC videos of these to be super helpful. The descriptions are equally helpful, but
in a different way. I can hear what you're playing in the vids. But sometimes it's nice to hear you say
what the experience of playing the pedal or exploring and experimenting with the pedal is like.
The Particle is relatively easy to find and try out where I live. The Judder... less so.
So I am thankful for you sharing your informed opinions and experiences with playing and being creative
with these pedals.

Re: Judder vs. Particle
Moreso the judder perhaps, but these type effects don't really have a right WAY to use/play them or any sort of assumed sound like a flanger for example, ya know what I mean? Its more like...ok turning this knob while flipping this toggle does THIS...yeah, i can use THAT
And then getting familiar with how the differnt knobs and toggles interact, and then how those results respond to your playing technique and dynamics to get even different results etc. Thats why i think of the judder more like an instrument. Particle is great too, but you kinda know what to expect/how to use a delay/pitchshifter...which isn't to say particle doesn't reward the same type experimentation because it does and its a really great thing too. Just different. i dunno, i'm overthinking/not thinking enough haha...i rather like how I don't understand what the judder is supposed to do and just explore with it, always rewarding.

awesome
did you get the wood or metal? i prefer my wooden mwfx...seems like I'm in the minority though haha. although...last i checked the wooden one lets you choose between short/med/long modes whereas the metal only has short/long modes.

I went with the metal one with the older graphics. Kinda like that look a little better. I don't think the wooden one is available right now.

Re: Judder vs. Particle
yeah every time i check the website the upgraded wooden isn't available.
for some reason....the layout maybe? or the way the toggles on the metal feel vs. the sliders on the wooden? dunno, but when i play my old wooden one i go in completely different directions and get different results than when i play the metal one. part of that is probably the expression control too, which is
but it just seems like they are different pedals that do similar things
wouldn't mind getting the new wooden one to replace my old one and the metal one...assuming the circuit is the same as whats in my old one. never considered that till just now haha, maybe he changed the circuit in the newer judders? i should really shoot him an email.
looking forward to some clips when you get the judder. always interesting to hear how people are using it

Re: Judder vs. Particle
Is the envelope section of the judder pretty similar to what the particle's freeze function does? Auto-capturing notes and freezing them?

Re: Judder vs. Particle
not really, but maybe kinda? if you listen to this demo in particular i'm in envelope mode and making small adjustments etc. which changes the response from pitchshifting repeats, to juddery repeats, to sound on sound layering, to glitchy stuff.aholidayatthesea wrote:Is the envelope section of the judder pretty similar to what the particle's freeze function does? i guess in this example when its doing sound on sound...and there are probably other ways to get it to do this too?...its sorta doing a freeze, and then the envelope setting/playing dynamics lets you retrigger it....so you could just freeze a note or whatever and not layer it to get something similar is what i'm getting at haha. i dunno how close that is to the particle but at least its an audio example of something somewhat similar.

haha nearly ALL of my demos i make the first time i even plug in the effect....i literally have NO IDEA what i'm doing.
just make a video showing the sound you like, and maybe show how adjusting the knobs effects the sound...or just an audio clip would be awesome
easy peasy.

Weird reading/watching brand new stuff about pedals I actually own and use every day. I'm so crap at pedals
ps. Possessed is better than both of them ///controversial

I cordially invite you to fuck right off and let the rest of us talk about music like adults.- dubkitty
