Sweetwater has these dudes on sale for $229. Anyone wanna give me a reason to/not to buy one of these?

They sound like shit. Thin and hollow.

Well, that's certainly a deterrent.
I like the way some of the demos sound?

That's why they keep getting rather brutal discounts.

Re: Korg SDD-3000
It makes sense if they aren't selling. I figured they were going to make an updated version (the first thing Korg's made full/oversized in 10 years is a delay pedal because that makes sense) and just clear out the old stock.Inconuucl wrote:That's why they keep getting rather brutal discounts.

Daniel Lanois seems to like his old rack unit, if that's worth something to you.

Everyone was excited about the pedal because of it, actually. The original rack unit was awesome.ognoy wrote:Daniel Lanois seems to like his old rack unit, if that's worth something to you.

Re: Korg SDD-3000
I imagine that everyone loved the idea of having that preamp, but then had a stroke when they realized that they had to break one of the internet commandments of pedal placement in order to use it. Kinda hard to overdrive your preamp when your delay pedal is in the effects loop. I also think that anyone who was thinking about getting one of these ended up getting a DD-500 instead.

Re: Korg SDD-3000
The DD-500 is pretty attractive. I haven't had a need for anything with looping or tap tempo for 3 years so I'm playing catch up on all the new digital delays

Re: Korg SDD-3000
The dd-500 is fucking fantastic is you want to sit down and program your delays and leave them as is after. Not so much if you're a more hands on person. That why I sold mine despite loving the sound. I like changing things mid song.

Considering the biggest name associated with this pedal is the Edge, you might be right.duffmcshark wrote:I imagine that everyone loved the idea of having that preamp, but then had a stroke when they realized that they had to break one of the internet commandments of pedal placement in order to use it. Re: Korg SDD-3000
The big problem I think on it step one is the pricing. It was $399 new when released.
Even now on clearance it's at least $60 too much.
I'd be curious if it was $150...but...don't know if I'd keep it.
I was always on the Roland SDE side of things for that era of rack delays.

Re: Korg SDD-3000
the magic of the SDD is the preamp circuit. The Edge, if you are into him, used to use the SDD-3000 rack in bypass just for the preamp. I got the same circuit in a pedal and its quite cool, very bigh gain super clear and clean preamp.
so much gear...

Re: Korg SDD-3000
Could well be it, I already had a 'plex and a couple Space Echoes back then for preamps for days so didn't jump out at me (can't say any of the digitals of the era did for that aspect).

Re: Korg SDD-3000
If I remember correctly the Korg SDD-3000 came out about a year after the Vox Delaylab (also under the Korg umbrella) which went crazy cheap after the 3000 came out.jamesmikelly wrote:It makes sense if they aren't selling. I have the Delaylab and honestly have had a hard time bonding with it. Had it on my "post" pedalboard and swapped it out for a EHX memory toy. The toy sounded very organic in comparison.
