I'm looking for more the mutton sound on the cheaps I guess. Just don't want it to sound super wahish. The thing I like about the eqd is the resonance knob so I think I want something the will bring me into that territory. The maxon seems awesome but cost just a little too much. Really trying to stay within budget. Does anyone think the dod will get me into this territory? I love the size and simplicity and listened to some demos but I'm not sure if it's what I am looking for
The dod's are both band pass filters and generally speaking low pass filters are best for getting synthy.

I just sold the boss ft-2, for me it was too weak next to my subdecay prometheus, fuck i love that one! they don't make it anymore but there is the prometheus dlx, bit too expensive i guess...

the digi synth wah is perfect for your budget i guess
or a used af-9 filter, sometimes i see the ibanez pretty cheap around here....

Ok so I just bought a qtron plus on reverb. It's one of the jive old school big box ones with and effects loop so it looks rad. Watched a demo and seems to sound cool and as far I know they are based on the old mutron so This may be rad.

Also I already started writing songs for the CHOPPED ep. So whenever your ready chankgeez

Is the SYB-3 that much better? I've been debating picking one up lately to complement my SYB-5.

The Qtron+ is cool, if it sounds a bit weak I would recommend you to remove the input and output caps (on the input and output jack), mine came as such and for some reason it's way better with those clipped.

The SYB-5 has better tracking, the SYB-3 has better square/sawtooth/PWM sounds (in my opinion as a synth nerd) plus a cool T Wah mode. Oh, and the SYB-3's generated synth sounds don't have such a volume decay at the beginning and no volume fade-out like the SYB-5. As a long-time SYB-3 user that was a very irritating thing when I tried the SYB-5 for the first time last year. I haven't used it for a while anymore, but I recall it being something like that:

The SYB-3 is available for very cheap here and then, so just try it out and sell it on if you don't need it. It's such a different beast!

Yea, was going to say that the q-tron+ is a bit weak...kinda why I prefered the Maxon in the price range.
