Yeah, Iggy's recorded output really hasn't been awesome in a while. I know Homme could possibly coax out some magic, though...

If they've done as well as the collab sounds on paper this is going to be brilliant. Very excited.

I mean there's no way, right?

This does not sound like Kyuss covering Fun House.

Debuted on Colbert last night - way synth-heavier than I was expecting. Also billed as "Iggy Pop's new album," but Homme is definitely up there playing...

Were we listening to the same song? Also, Iggy's no stranger to synths, so...

Not bad, especially by "recent Iggy Pop" standards...

Second best song named Gardenia by a band with Josh Homme on guitar, imo.

The bass is so groovy and solid sounding :)

feels like something is missing there, but in general I like where this is going :) I'm really looking forward to more songs

Interestingly, I could hear synths pretty well in the Colbert video, but on the actual recording, I thought it sounded like The Idiot's music done in Lust For Life style (ie, not the weird, sinister, and krautrock sound of the former).

Which brings me to the main thing I was gonna post about. I was a bit underwhelmed when I listened. I know they were apparently trying to build off of those albums, and expand upon it (I'm pretty sure I read in the article linked on fb that Josh said it would be "picking up where Lust left off"), but it just sounded like those songs without Bowie. I dunno, I guess I was probably expecting Josh Homme + other Queens' inability to be normal as musicians to mix with Iggy being Iggy, but it just felt like something that could have been on those albums.

I'm still gonna make sure to listen to the full album when it comes out, because even if Iggy has dropped of in quality in recent years (I think the most recent album from him that I've loved was American Caesar, with basically everything before that being great for me), I still love the dude to pieces, and I'm a huge Homme fanboy (hell, he's put out only two albums in his 25ish years in music that I've not liked), but I'm really hoping that this song doesn't show what the whole album will be like. :idk:

I really like the bass too. It's Mat Sweeney playing.
Not a big Homme fan, but this sound great.

I mean, maybe? :idk: When two people both use the word "blue," are they both ACTUALLY seeing the same color?

You raise a good point, though - I think I came to the song with some preconceived notions. Not saying it was a bad song, just that perhaps I was expecting something else.
