Filters
So I have 100 reverb dollars right now and need advice. I really want an envelope filter and am not sure what I want. I want it to sound less wah and more synth. The new eqd looks rad but it is not out yet and may be a bit more than I want to spend. So do we know any cheaper ones that sound awesome? Looking at the dod but don't know if that's gonna scratch the itch.
So what should I do?
Get the dos and have enough left over for a strap?
Wait and save for the eqd?
The other awesome option that I didn't know about?

Re: Filters
Digitech synthwah is neat for the price.
Maybe a mutron clone or one of those Maxon Fireblade AF-F1 would be cool (lots of mutron-like options and can work well as a straight filter).
There are other options too (but they might be getting out of your price point/reverb-realm).

Re: Filters
Little bit more than you're looking to spend, but the Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe (+ the fuzz of your choice) will get you plenty synthy.

Boss SYB-5 makes tons of killer synth sounds. I love mine to pieces.

Re: Filters
The SYB-5 has an awesome waveshaper mode that's more useable than that of the SYB-3. Overall I prefer most of the modes of the SYB-3, but the follow-up model has some really nice sounds as well, especially if you combine it with an expression pedal.

Look for a used Xero DLX because Taylor new price are way too much. I paid 195 CAD for mine.

Anytime Pepe weighs in on a boss pedal I take it more seriously than other people's opinions,

Re: Filters
Thanks guys. I should rephrase what I'm looking for. I actually have a bassmicro synth and it's great but overkill for what I need right now. I'm looking for more the mutton sound on the cheaps I guess. Just don't want it to sound super wahish. The thing I like about the eqd is the resonance knob so I think I want something the will bring me into that territory. The maxon seems awesome but cost just a little too much. Really trying to stay within budget. Does anyone think the dod will get me into this territory? I love the size and simplicity and listened to some demos but I'm not sure if it's what I am looking for

You sure you don't want a phaser?

Re: Filters
Out of the BOSS auto wah pedals, the FT-2 is my clear favourite! It is no bandpass filter, it's a lowpass filter, like you know it from synthesizers. Sometimes I take it to gigs when I play on keyboards without resonant filters. It does a very good job. I have two older demos (made without a guitar amp at that time) that show most of its capabilities:Bearstripes wrote:Also looking at a boss ft 2 on reverb right now if anyone has any opinions in them

Re: Filters
The top of the heap out of many I've tried, for synthy tones. The Deluxe adds two envelope speeds and sensitivity and separate level controls for wet/dry, but the standard is a bit cheaper if you don't need those features.Chankgeez wrote:Little bit more than you're looking to spend, but the Iron Ether Xerograph Deluxe (+ the fuzz of your choice) will get you plenty synthy.
