Yeah dude that's super helpful, thanks! :thumb:
Good to know that if this 45 reissue petition flops out the 46 is just as awesome and easy to get.
Better start saving.... :erm:

Re: UG demos Gotharman's FX deFormer Granular Effects Proces

Post by Uncle Grandfather »

hey hey, here is a listen to the Gotharman's FX deFormer granular effects processor/sampler/sequencer. this is one of the presets, don't have a clue how to navigate the menus on this thing to make more in depth adjustment yet...but seems like the three knobs are doing Something. actually JUST downloaded/looked at the manual and there are a lot of parameters that can be adjusted but i wanted to give a sample of what it sounds like.

When you're on the preset screen the knobs sometimes are assigned to a function, sometimes not, although you could assign them to something. There are a ton of possible parameters on any given preset. The knobs control CC numbers 1 2 and 3 when you're on the preset screen so to make them control a value find one of the modulation destinations and assign it to CC 1 2 or 3. For example on the Delay 1 granular effect if you scroll through the options you'll find MixMod TimeMod FeedMod and DeepMod, you can assign these to CC 1, 2 or 3 to make the knob work, or assign them to a LFO or a sequencer track.... It gets pretty deep.

In some ways it's easier to learn it if you go to an empty preset and go into edit mode and fool around. But it has a crazy number of controls and some controls have a huge range between tame and insane.

Please post more Gotharman. Very cool. Been eyein one. All the sub-menu options have kept me at bay - just not my workflow style. But maybe it's time to dive in

Here is another listen to one of the presets on the Gotharman's FX deFormer. Staccato Granular, pretty cool preset. The deFormer has 4 different dirts you can choose from, and I think one is already being used in this preset but there is some additional fuzz supplied by the LAL 45 just because why not. :)

Re: UG demos Gotharman's FX deFormer more granular presets!

Post by Uncle Grandfather »

Hey there, here are a couple more of the presets that come with the Gotharman's FX deFormer granular effects processor. There are a bunch of granular effects to choose from, these presets use the Variator, and then the Granulator effects. You should be able to read what preset is on the units screen. So far I've only been playing around with the presets cause they are REALLY great, but I did go into the menus to check it out and change the input from line level to HI-Z and it was easy peasy....can't really comment yet on how easy/hard it is to build up my own presets though, there's a LOAD of options.

Re: UG demos Gotharman's FX deFormer granulator parameters

Post by Uncle Grandfather »

Hey there, so the Gotharman's FX deFormer has 13 different granular effects...from granular reverbs, granular pitchshaper, granular chorus etc. This is a quick look at the AnaGran Granulator effect, and really only a couple of the parameters you can adjust in this particular effect without getting deeper into rearranging the order of the grains/fragments, re-pitching or time-stretching them by using two 8-step granulator sequencers not to mention getting into tweaking modulation/LFO/distortion etc. Just wanted to give a listen to some of the bare bones granular action.

Re: UG demos Koma bd101 w/ Goatkeeper LFO on CV inputs

Post by Uncle Grandfather »

Hey hey, here is a listen to the Lightfoot Labs Goatkeeper's LFO controlling the CV inputs on a Koma Elektronik bd101 analogue gate/delay. This go around I keep the delay off and just show how the Goatkeeper LFO affects the gate's CV inputs of Speed, then Amount, then bypassing the Koma gate altogether in the External Gate input. Next demo I'll show the delay blended in and how the LFO effects the Delay Time too. Pretty cool glitchy response when controlling Speed that I really dig, then that awesome ripping sound when using more steps on the goatkeeper. Quite the great combo, i think :thumb:

This is rad, UG.
Now I am curious about what it'd be like if you added in some of the mooger's with CV control.

Sounds pretty awesome :thumb: I'll put together something with a full complement of CV control on the Koma.

Sooo, here is a second look at the Koma Elektronik bd101 analogue gate/delay with a Lightfoot Labs Goatkeeper's LFO going into the CV Speed, Amount, Ext. Gate, and then Delay Time. I've mixed in the delay for this demo to give a better idea of how the Koma really sounds. If I were actually playing some music I would go 100% wet signal on the delay, but I wanted you to be able to hear what the dry signal sounded like getting glitchy etc along with all the degradation the Koma does to the repeats.

Also I forgot to show the Goatkeeper LFO going into the CV Cycle in, and the regular Cycle in. Cycle in/out is the f/x loop, and there is also a CV Cycle in that lets you get crazy with controlling the feedback. Even putting the LFO into the f/x return gets some pretty incredible sounds too! I love putting the Koma FT201 filter/step sequencer's CV sequence out into the CV Cycle in on the bd101 for 10 step insanity to the feedback.
