1996 was the year of a lot of amazing releases! None so amazing as Kool Keith's most notable album, next to Sex Styles, Matthew and several others. LOLZ. The scene was in a dry spell of the same shit on a different day until the release of non other than the Octagonocologyst!!! Half shark, half alligator, half man, ready to take the world by the balls!

Oh yea and Life is Peachy came out in 96 and that shit was off the hook for that time. If you don't agree, you might need to just fuck off!!! :p

Dopesmoker and Backwards were both supposed to be released in 1996, so we can count those, I believe?

1. Thanks to Biggie and 2Pac, rap had blown up... but Eminem had not made it annoying yet.

2. Thanks to Nirvana, alternative rock had blown up... but Smash Mouth had not made it annoying yet.
Shocking that no one bit on either of these obvious troll statements.

I don't know whether to be proud of you guys or ashamed of myself.

The rest of my post was sincere, though!

We can definitely give a nod to the unprecedented amounts of weed and pizza consumed by Sleep in this year.

I'd never heard it before...probably because of the obvious nu metal bias. But listening to it right now...kind of impressed. Not, like, enough to go spend money on a big-ass wallet chain, but...there's some interesting stuff happening.
The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.
