Ibanez DE7

Post by ohsojayadeva »

Seems like a fairly decent, cheap alternative to the Boss DD3. As I don't have a preference for analog delay, and I don't need looping or excessive delay times, the lack of these features doesn't bother me. Curious for reports of consistency, build quality, durability, live experience, etc...

All I've heard about the DE-7 are good things. For an inexpensive delay, they're built well and work like a simple delay should. I'd say go try one out at the local store; you could probably try one out at GC if you really had to.
Do you like listening to homemade music? Me too. Why don't you try one of mine?

I have two Ibanez XX7 pedals (chorus/flange and Auto Wah) Both work great for what they need to do.

The wah's switch is getting a little buggy after about 10 years of use. but no other issues.

dude, the 7 series pedals are build like tanks
I have two and will probably be getting a third at some point soon

DE7 and CF7 are the ones I'm rockin, and yeah they stand up to and in some areas even out-do their more expensive Boss equivalents.
I reccommend it greatly

My only complaint is the switch, those tonelok switches are crap.
Otherwise there really isn't anything that comes close in that range.

Great "bang for your buck".

Are they that much worse than a Boss for example? I'm not very hard on my pedals, and with delay it's mostly either on or off, not a lot of switching mid song.

This is actually a SM7, not the DE7, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say they're all the same. Though this one is about 10 years old.

Image

When you depress the switch it just forces the little silver nub down onto the tiny black plastic switch.
It's not that bad, but just somthing to know.

So your switching problems have only come about recently? After 10 years, that's not bad. :thumb:

I love my DE7. Sooooo great sounding, but I agree about the switch. It's not finicky, but seems it could give out at some point. I know drasp TB'd his. It'd almost be worth getting a loop if your concerned about it's live use. Better yet, get a feedback of the future from rockness monster! :thumb:

The DE7 is AWESOME. Seriously. Best cheap assed delay ever. It doesn't get the "echo" mode through modelling... it actually sends the delays through a bit of a distortion circuit, so it sounds pretty natural.

So, yeah, highly recommended. I've using mine for a while.

Four "yes" and one seemingly troll "no" vote - WHO DID IT? CLAIM IT!

I think I see a clear trend with regards to this pedal. :excellent:

I like the Ibanez 7 series a lot!

I've played on my friend's de7 and it's a really sweet pedal. it can oscillate similar to an analog pedal and the repeats are warmer compared to my dd-3's cold repeats.

I've had a TS7 and it was a pretty good pedal with any tube amp, a little dead sounding but i've heard it takes mods really really well.

I got a second hand ibanez SB7 and I must say the switch on it is a bit shit at times, but my TS7's switch held steady for 3 years of use.
