Line6 M5 MIDI Controller

Post by Pop »

Hey hey friends.

Does anyone use MIDI to control their M5? I got an M5 for a trade out of nowhere and like it quite a bit, but I'd like to control it with some kind of MIDI thing.

I understand that you can only use MIDI Channel 1 to access Save Patch 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3, etc., but that's no problem. I'll just put the effects where I want them.

Any experience?

Thanks!

In the UI you can change it to respond to any of the 16 MIDI channels...not just channel 1.

I used to run a Tech 21 MIDI Mouse on a rig that controlled an M5 (among other things). Worked great and easier than doing the 2-button stomp to get into Scene select mode.

I think I might look into one of those Disasterarea MIDI controllers as well. Trying to figure out if it would even be worth it. There really isn't anything that does what the M5 does in such a small package.

Thanks, but I want something with which I can immediately access patches, not scroll through them.

If you want to go serious then can't go wrong with FAMC and RJM stuff.
The cheap Behringer will do the job too.

This may sound contradictory, but I don't want to go THAT serious, as it's only an M5. BUT I think its usability could be greatly improved with good MIDI controller. I think the best I've found for what they can do and price range (although a liiiiittle steep) is the Disaster Area 6 switch.

Thanks!
