the belt strap, albini style

This probably belongs in the guitar forum but I don't go in there that much.

Anyway, anyone do it? Use a guitar strap that goes around your waist rather than over your shoulder?

I know they make actual belt straps now so you don't have to get a super long guitar strap and wrap it around your body, just wondering if it's worth it. I have a super bad back (crohns, cycling, few other things just leave it semi permanently fucked) but also subscribe to the theory that the more a guitar weighs the better it sounds. So I'm starting to consider this as an option. Just wondering if anyone has any experience before I drop cash on one.
