If you have the feedback cranked and shoot notes upwards, its going to be a bunch of nice high pitched sounds because thats what you are telling it to do. you can make less high pitches by reducing the feedback and therefore lowering the number of repititions/transpositions. iirc on the current firmware there is a digital filter in the feedback loop that starts to cut around 5 or 6 khz but id have to double check the cut off. the idea was to allow at least 1 or 2 audible transpositions of the highest fundamental on the fretboard (~2k). You can test it to see, play a low note and transpose it up, it will sound like a guitar for several repeats since most of the harmonics remain below the filer cut off. but play way up the neck on high e string and it sounds synthetic almost right away in the repeats since all the harmonics get stripped quickly, then the note will vanish pre maturely.DRodriguez wrote:I don't find mine shrill per se, but I do find the high end a little too cutting in the mix in mode 1. whether or not you will think the result is shrill is just too subjective for me to comment on.
with the gb24 the 8 bit audio quality causes some other artifacts that aren't really an issue on any of the ct5 revs.

Absolutely. the Ct5 is doing exactly as it should. I just love leaving the feedback high and then taming it a bit to blend it a little better in my weirdness. It's very easy to tuck it back with the mix knob, but I like to make it go crazy and artificial, and then darken it a bit. I still haven't gotten around to updating it though. just installed windows on an old mac, I really should give it a go. Seems like you've built in what I've been doing through other means.

Sorry, no offense meant. Maybe shrill isn't the exact word I was looking for. But when I had the Ct5 I felt it was too hi-fi to be pleasant to my ear, something the GB24 happily avoids, the being hi-fi.
When I had one, it must have been from the first or second batch you said you were thinking about a filtering option, Scott. Is this the filter you are talking about now, or was that one always in place?
Maybe I should also say that my rig is set to cut, so maybe it over-accentuates the higher registers that the Ct5 is able to reach.
