I've got an 1986 MIJ Squier with a siiiilllky smooth neck. But you can only adjust the truss rod by taking the neck off - weirdDrMabuse wrote:Japan for the top of the line model, Indonesia for the rest. Seems like it takes most countries 10-20 years to really hit their stride making guitars. Japan was there by '78, Korea got there maybe 10 years ago, and the higher end Squiers speak well of China these days. Not sure how close Indonesia is, maybe this line is the one that'll show they've arrived. In another 10 years, all import guitars will be built deep underground by Morlocks.SPACERITUAL wrote:I assume these are made in korea?
The name Revstar just screams "look at me if you're considering a Reverend!" On the one hand, Reverend should take it as a compliment, Yamaha is basically going after their customers. On the other hand, it's got to suck to be a relatively small company going up against a behemoth like Yamaha. I think Gibson was the last company Yamaha copied in both name and form, so Reverend is in pretty good company.
I bought a Sensei recently before these came out. It's an awesome guitar, and after seeing these I'd buy the Sensei again. Now if I'd bought one of the older Sensei's without the forearm carve, I might feel a bit different.
Bottom line: only one of these companies has ever made a Ron Asheton signature model. The other company will never be quite as cool.

Vintage style neck. Wasn't until the 70s that headstock-adjustable truss rods appeared on Fender stuff.JereFuzz wrote: I've got an 1986 MIJ Squier with a siiiilllky smooth neck. But you can only adjust the truss rod by taking the neck off - weird

Have you purchased one yet? If not, Kraft music typically has great bundles ...waltdogg wrote:Those are great guitars and basses though.

Think he assumed your comment re:MIJ Squiers was in reference to the Yamahas, and was suggesting a retailer?
But in reference to the truss adjust point, should add that some modern Fender stuff still has the vintage adjust, including most of the Classic Players. My '08 or so Jaguar, which also thankfully has no skunk stripe (I hate skunk stripes on rosewood FB guitars, yet I own a half dozen of 'em!):

Pfft no. These might look cool but I wouldn't play one. I was talking about my '83 MIJ Squier P-Bass.

I see myself buying one before the year closes ... if the neck is anything like the Pacifica I would be very happy ... 13.75" radius ...imbutawaveto wrote:Kinda gassin for one of these, that matte grey RS502 with the P90's is real purdy, would love to get my hands on one in a shop.

Re: Yamaha Revstar?
the prices on these are stupid cheap...and i don't really see this being a copy of reverend guitars...since Yamaha superflighter was probably the inspiration for reverend anyway. This is just Yamaha looking for a mid priced range to compete with epiphones and PRS SE's etc, whilst using a traditional shape thats part of their heritage. I just hope they play as well as they look...
