Pigtronix Infinity help needed.

Post by Olin »

Hey guys, so, I recently upgraded my looper from an RC-20xl to an Infinity; I am a one man band and figure that I may as well get the best I can get for the looping as it's so crucial. So for the most part it's great, solid construction, easy import/exports etc, but I am having a volume issue.
Basically, the volume drops with each loop I add... sometimes. I've done as much reading as I can, and several times I've read something or changed a setting thinking: "Yes! That'll do it." only for it to make absolutely no difference. It doesn't appear to be "loop aging", it happens on some loops and not on others regardless of them having identical settings, and I am just not sure how to counteract it.
If I have the volume knobs (for the channels, not the master volume) maxed out, it's supposed to give a 6db boost, which it does, but only for one cycle, before dropping considerably. It's also more noticeable (unsurprisingly) when I'm using higher gain pedals over anything even slightly lower gain/quieter. When for example, I have a song that starts with drums, I'll load that onto the first channel, click play, arm the second track, all is good for 8 bars of my life, then I'm done recording and the drums are struggling to be audible, while the just-recorded guitar is much, much quieter than the input signal.

I would like the volumes to stay the same/not drop so noticeably, and if anyone can help me do that/point out where I'm being a dumbass/confirm that, that is simply the way that looper works, I would be very grateful.

On a secondary note, I recently purchased a Roland SP-555, entirely because of the MIDI capabilities of the Infinity, as the drums would be coming from that, is that likely to rectify the volume issues at least with the drums?

Thank you and sorry for the lack of brevity.

You should try emailing Pigtronix.
Did you buy it used or new?
Honestly that sounds like it's kinda fucked up.

All right, any word on what their customer service is like?
I bought it new, it's got the latest firmware and I've tried resetting it a few times to no avail.
It does seem a bit off, I mean from what I've seen that isn't meant to happen unless loop ageing is on, but oh well. Thanks!

I emailed them probably 10 time during the course of a few months about a problem I had, and they never responded. I recommend try calling them instead.

Huh, all right, long distance calls to Pigtronix it is. Does anyone else with an Infinity have anything to weigh in? I would say it's at least 34% possible I am just doing something stupid.

Don't have one, but are you blowing up the input and it's recording at its safe volume? IE the guitar is well above unity on the dirtboxes and the thing is getting overloaded?

Don't have a Pigtronix anything, so....

Hey, it's certainly not that, it lets me know as soon as I get too loud and I have adjusted accordingly. It's particularly with drums that it's noticeable.
