Granular synthesis and fuckity samples mostly, all smashed together in Ableton. I even made use of the Max for Live instrument made by our very own Dr. Sherman Sticks MD and linked a few pages back (which is a hell of a lot of fun).

Is it something you could play live somehow (I mean, really interacting with the music) ?

I have been working on finding a way to do it effectively and in a truly live manner and so far I have taken the route of breaking it down into a million clips in ableton and fucking around with crossfades and things like that to try and keep it somewhat improvisatory in nature. But yeah. It's something that feel weird coming form an instrumental performace background and I'm looking at working some live loops into it.
Gonna have to figure it out.

Please do work out how to do this live. It's absolutely beautiful and I would love to play some shows with you

I've been thinking long and hard about it in the time since I initially posted this and I have devised a system which will probably require me to purchase something like a launchpad, a TC ditto for longer phrase style looping and some kind of small analog synth in addition to what I already own. I figure to have this up and running by March or April, life permitting.

I'm flattered though daseb. Are you a Melbournite?

Yeah man, I'm trying to bridge that gap personally. Need to work on integrating enough live manipulation along with the pre recorded/queued material to satisfy my kinda weird ideas of what I'd like a performance of mine to be I guess. Just kinda feels weird when I've only really participated/performed in band environments live before. I have this weird 70s Casio organ thing that I'll probably use as well as about 6-7 tabletop pedals (Loops/Dirt etc) and then run everything else off my laptop.

But fuck yeah, I'll PM you for future reference, I'd be down for anything.

I'd love to find people to collaborate on stuff like this...preferably locally (SF Bay Area for me) but hell, let's all just do one big ilovefuzz drone/ambient/noise song together. Mixing it would be some work depending on how many people got involved but it would be fun to see what we could all do.

hey thanks dude, it really means a lot. There was actually an ILF drone comp compiled recently. But thanks to the mighty internet, collaboration is totally a 24/7/365 option for most aye?

EDIT: Yo Resin that's tight. Real trip. Where do you draw your initial samples fad things from before you cook em up? I heard at least guitar and voice easily enough (I think).
Also, I know audio mulch has kinda been covered in here at least briefly, but how do you go about it?

So I played my first set doing this kinda stuff I've been working on friday night. It was pretty good! Definitely need to practice through an actual PA with subs more often because low end is FUN.

processed field recordings and my wife playing violin in audiomulch, loaded on to SP404 which runs through a phase 90, count to five and DD3. Beats from a korg volca sample running through a red panda particle. I've been doing like, free form drone noise stuff on and off for ten years. It's fun to try something absolutely rigid and locked to a beat instead.
