Fender Mustang Bass Replica?
Does anyone make one of these? I want one of these basses so bad, but I can't even find a decent one on the used market unless I go vintage.

I don't know of any, but snipe one of those white/tort MIJ Mustangs if you ever get the chance. I love mine to pieces.

If you're ok with international purchases, prices in Japan for theses are decent when they can be found (I got mine in perfect condition a few years ago for 43k yens, they can usually be found for 50-55k I think). The yen is not super strong now so that could be worth it for someone living overseas...

Damn that's an amazing price. I loved the one I had but alas I had too many instruments and was moving away to school.oscillateur wrote:If you're ok with international purchases, prices in Japan for theses are decent when they can be found (I got mine in perfect condition a few years ago for 43k yens, they can usually be found for 50-55k I think). It was a small shop somewhere in the country (they shipped super fast, got it the next day at my workplace in Tokyo though) and prices might have increased a bit since then. Still, you can get them for up to 60k regularly. 50k sometimes, less than that and they sell super fast. Ishibashi at least sells internationally and I know a few other small shops that do so too... Checking on digimart can be worth it.

Are we talking about a Fender Japan Mustang Bass? Because if so, that's a ridiculous price! The only problem is I've checked Ishibashi and they don't have any. I've never heard of the Atelier either.oscillateur wrote:If you're ok with international purchases, prices in Japan for theses are decent when they can be found (I got mine in perfect condition a few years ago for 43k yens, they can usually be found for 50-55k I think). Yeah, it's a Fender Japan. That one was at a really good price maybe because it was from a small shop in a small town, I found their webpage almost by accident. But you can find some now for 50-60k, which is still reasonable.
I think these basses are not made anymore (Fender Japan has been completely restructured recently), or if they're made it's a somehow different model now. But there are enough of them around so they pop up for sale regularly. Checking Ishibashi's website regularly (or sending them a mail asking to keep you informed if they get one) might be a good idea. And send a mail in english to the other shops that have something you're interested in, some of them actually speak english and can ship internationally.

Is it easy to get guitars from Digimart to the US? I know Ishibashi can do it, but I've never ordered from digimart. Those are exactly what I'm looking for!oscillateur wrote:It was a small shop somewhere in the country (they shipped super fast, got it the next day at my workplace in Tokyo though) and prices might have increased a bit since then. Digimart is not a shop but a website that shops use to put the stuff they have for sale (both new and used). So it depends on the shop (the shop's info is on each item's page). Use the automatic translation option of Chrome for example to navigate if you have troubles understanding what is what
.
Basically you need to ask each shop if they ship internationally. Some do (including Ishibashi which is the biggest instruments shops chain here), not all though.
