Any Moonrock owners around?

Post by digi2t »

Wyllie Moonrock. I've been putzing with this circuit over at diysb's. I have some fair photos, and some circuit traces, but it's missing that magic "pixie dust". This is what I have so far...

Anybody got one to share with me?

Cozybuilder over at DIYSB came up with a nice work-a-like of the Wyllie Moonrock. It's got more parts, but apparently works very well. Millenium switching as well. Here's a vero of the Cozybuilder "Moon Stone".

Update the vero, and it's verified as well. First one I posted had an error with one of the ground jumpers.

And of course, the customary Hen's Tooth Cafe video. Enjoy.

Great work...man, that sounds good. Wish I would have picked one of those up when they were still in production (at least I think they were...). They were kind of closely associated with ZZ Top or something (like the expandora) if I remember correctly...

Sounds great, digi2t, and I like your Moonrock conspiracy theory too. :D

(You should PM Kosta. Pretty sure he has a Moonrock.)

Thanks guys. The real kudos go to Cozybuilder, he really came up with the added touches that got the results you see in the video. I just couldn't get the results of the audio clips using the circuit as I traced it from the original units. I don't know what kind of pixie dust the originals had, but I was chasing a unicorn. Cozy really brought it to life. He's looking at the circuit to futher enhance it, along the lines of the Wyllie New Moon. Maybe something like octave lift, tone control, drive control, and whatnot. It's an interesting circuit, with lots of mod options to offer.

On the conspiracy angle, I went out on a limb with that one. I'm sure to catch some flack, but as my dear Brother Jimi Photon would say, "Video... or it never happened.".
