I've never seen Melt Banana because I'm a square.

They've always been a great band and only gotten better with age.
Saw them live a week or two ago.
Insanely good.

Shellac and Bonnie were both awesome, as expected.

D.o.S. wrote:Also Napalm Death + Melvins + Melt Banana feels like more of a mixtape than an actual bill but that show is going to be sick too.

1000000% pumped for this. I've been trying to find people to go out to Cleaveland for it, but nobody seems to be biting :/

Kevin Devine/Owen/Meredith Graves/Jesse Lacey show was dope. Got my full band Brand New songs than I expected. Kinsella is fucking fascinating as a guitarist. Meredith Graves' tunes were rad as well, looking forward to hearing studio material soon. & of course K Dev killed as usual.

I always see that guy around town and have wanted to just shake his hand and say hello, but I resist because I'm sure everybody wants to shake that guy's hand and say hello.

That's an awesome set of shows.

I just saw Royal Thunder (awesome) and the Sword (boring).

Hoping to get out of work early on Thursday to catch All Them Witches.

You really think so? I think he does interesting stuff both on guitar and drums. I love Owls.

I actually find his guitar playing super interesting but it's in the service of 'emo' that seems super bland and unthreatening, and has had a massive unexpected revival in the last five years here. Didn't really like it at the time, find it baffling now. There's only so many pretty white boys you can see hunched over a telecaster twinkling away before you start wishing for a couple of pimples, a distortion pedal and a song about Nicaraguan death squads or something.

Honest to god, there are people in their 20s in my city who think 'electric pink' era Promise Ring is deserving of a reissue rather than being quietly shelved away in the attic next to the photos of the great uncle who was in the SS.

Baroness was amazing, their opening band couldn't go so they played a two hour set. That was crazy. Some of the new songs were super thrashy in a good way.

Also had a small dance off with Brann Dailor.

Good to know.
I wasn't really looking forward to the new record because I thought that the last 2xLP was pretty meh but it seems to be shaping up a bit better.

John came down here and did a solo tour with Scott Kelly before Green/Yellow got released (they were actually the first few shows he'd done alone). I really loved some of those songs just acoustic, he has a fantastic voice. But when they recorded them... argh, talk about throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.
Still curious about the new one though.

Shellac were fantastic. It was amusing to see a crowd of people who all seemed to think they were the smartest person in the room.

Currently all my GAS money is going into the ROADBURN fund. :!!!:
