The more I record digitally, the more I'm starting to be ok with the sound. I'm used to colored mic preamps and tape, and don't know how much of the sound i'm getting from the 2i2 is the result of its preamp or just the whole digital she-bang. pretty pretty happy with the results so far.

Damn that on the verge of feedback sound towards the end of the second demo was great. Also what are your thoughts on the top panel minted jacks? I kind of like that idea

I use the 2i4 for all of my recordings, and I really don't mind it. My tracks are all lo-fi anyways

Loving these demos! I was hoping these would be new ones though. :snax:

TOP MOUNT JACKS ARE AWESOME!

I think the top mounted jacks are pretty awesome, think it looks a lot cooler with i/c cables sticking up like some sort of modular set up or somethin  I've never used a pedal board and don't really fret about the size of pedals or jack orientation though.

Well i reconfigured things on my daw and figured out how to get better sounding recording, i think...certainly better than those last two b-filter takes with that blanket over spkr/hazy distortion etc

Here is a real short listen to the Seppuku FX B-Filter then to test audio/video integration etc. Please let me know how the audio sounds on your end :thumb:

thanks buddy
i fool'd ya ;)

think i've finally dotted all the I's and crossed the t's in the DAW and am pretty happy with the results from capturing mic'd audio for now...forgot the 2i2 had a line/mic toggle so I'll get around to using some of my tube mic preamps soon to see if that pumps some color into the equation.

Sounds good and clean...

but I liked distorted and mean (big fan of old Japanese punk "mastering"...where you max-gain everthing and have it fight a radioactive bumble bee crossbred with poisonous hummingbird in a PA system).\\

It's good, UG, really nice man.

I might just have to bite the bullet, use my eight track with the clap-sync and just have a go at it...you guys are all getting fancy though! haha...DAW is just something I don't think I could hang with at the moment...you're hard work is paying off though UG! Cheers!

awesome :joy:
thanks for the feedback.
still have a lot of learning to do with the proper way things work in the daw, but already pickup up a couple tricks to get interesting/messed up unintentional results.

hey there, here is a listen to CBMODS circuit bent Arion DDM-1 delay. as far as being a delay it sounds best with feedback dimed giving a really nice reverb/resonant quality to the pads that you can build up...not sure if thats just how the DDM-1 sounds but its really great like that i think. with the delay time dimed it seems to just go on forever and don't think i captured that in the demo. Otherwise there are an additional 3 threeway toggles, have yet to remember how all the setting sound so i just tried to show all the possible combos.

That's pretty dope, actually. Wouldn't mind putting some of those feedbacks into a looper and playing over them! Wish I'd have picked one up. I'm not placing any more orders from him before I get my verb though :p

Edit: That flange too!

I didn't try too terribly hard but I couldn't find any demos of an unbent DDM-1, but I'm thinking this is maybe how it normally sounds as a delay? Reason being...only with all 3 toggles in the middle position does the delay even happen at all to the input signal. When i flip any of the toggles it outputs that textured and rhythmic signal while the dry input signal stays dry and unaffected by any repeats. The overall sound of the dry signal IS sorta affected by the feedback knob settings in a light/dark tone kinda way with slight textural differences between the low and high settings....but NO repeats to the dry signal when a toggle is engaged. So anyways, if you like the sound/behavior of those delay sounds I was thinking you might just try and grab an unbent DDM-1...of course the bend is pretty incredible and basically turns it into a noise instrument :!!!:

Or maybe not, and that kinda resonant/reverbish quality and sound on sound type layering is a result of the bend too :idk: In general the delay/repeats aren't very good sounding throughout the d. time/feedback knobs range otherwise, its just not versatile at all. But, I think it sounds absolutely Incredible doing what I was trying to show in the demo with the feedback dimed and going through the range of the delay time. Also in that setting, turning the delay time knob results in some of the absolute best sounds as it "slows down" or "speeds up" while also it introduces reallllly cool subtle "noises" which makes me kinda think it might indeed be a result of the bend...but dunno :idk: could always ask Waz @ cbmods too.

Hope your nanoverb shows up soon too, so much win with that unit :joy:

Re: UG demos Eventide Timefactor

Post by Uncle Grandfather »

hey now, here is a listen to the Eventide Timefactor in Band Delay mode messing around with its self oscillation. Each mode has its own thing going on when it self oscillates and the four bottom row knobs effect different parameters to mess with in each mode....might even be able to program what those knobs control? don't know yet as i usually dont read a manual until something breaks haha, but yeah i need to read up on this still.

Its also pretty cool how when you have the feedback near or maybe over 100%...goes up to 115% i think...and then go into bypass whatever pad you've built up will continue indefinitely for you to play over. Or..you can just crank the feedback up in bypass and then mess with other knobs until it starts making sound and go from there too.

hey there, here is a listen to the Eventide Timefactor in the Tape Echo mode, going through the range of the filter and xob with feedback pretty high and delay time really low on A delay and off on B delay.
