What would be the details of a group buy in your eyes?
I'm looking at enclosure options, and planning potential layouts a little bit. Is there a general consensus on preferred layout? Top or side jacks? The controls set up like they are currently, for the most part? Keep in mind things like jacks, switches, and pots will likely be replaced, if not definitely.

It may not really reduce cost though. Getting enclosures screened or etched or whatever is cheaper in bulk, or pcb's, or ordering parts for a run of pedals, but the actual work of rehousing is the same per pedal if you're doing one or a hundred. Maybe it could land us all a sweet enclosure, but it might still be a $100 job. Or whatever it turns out to be when a smart rehousing person looks at it and figures out the cost.

My post was typed before Jero's response, but relevant.
Edit: I would really hate it if he committed to a price for ten units or whatever and learned after doing one that it was either a loss or not a decent wage hourly.

Not sure about others, but I'm fine with whatever's easiest to make happen. Don't really care about how it looks. Personality is what really matters.Jero wrote:What would be the details of a group buy in your eyes?

Chirping in to say I would also be interested in a rehouse, price dependent.

What is the consensus on price? Is </= $100 a fair assumption?
What about a custom graphic for these specifically? All get the same color box/art. Or simple controls labeled, and each person picks their color box? Or something entirely different from what I've said...?
just trying to get information really.

If possible, maybe having the feedback knob be moved down a little so I can adjust it with my foot. That'd be pretty sick, but if that won't work then it's no biggy. I'm just dreaming.

Re: What should I replace my DE-7 with?
Hell yeah. I'd love a custom rehouse for my DE7.
I'd go with top jacks, TB switch, momentary oscillation button, a GOOD mode switch... but please no push in knobs I beg of you.
Just big ass knobs.
I imagine the look of it being somewhat of a tribute to the original.
<Kind of in similar regard to my Fender blender clone.
Cool that this thread ended up here.

Ok, so my main de7 all of a sudden no longer powers up, not via a PA, not via a battery....
baldish news for me (i do have a backup).
So I decided to do some recon disassembly and I have some board pics for the initiated:
Input jack board:

Output jack board:

Switch's board:

And the pot board (followed by where it connects to the main pcb):

Thanks for the pics! That actually doesn't seem quite as bad as the pd7 I have open, which is good. Did you figure out why that one went kaput?

I didn't really go poking around, and there is no obvious neon sign pointing to anything...Jero wrote:Thanks for the pics! That actually doesn't seem quite as bad as the pd7 I have open, which is good. Did you figure out why that one went kaput?
