Holy Grail Max and other reverbs

Post by fungalattack »

So I just got the holy grail max and I gotta say I absolutely love it. I know it's far from the "best" sounding reverb but I it is absolutely perfect for use with fuzz. For me it is instant shoegazing tooanz. Plus the reverse setting :thumb: ! It's a lil bright and definitely colors the tone but the blend knob helps to dial the dry sound back in. I also love the plate setting at its longest it is 30 seconds of decay. I love the ghost echo but it's a bit of a one trick pony but does that trick very very well especially before dirt. I tried the Hardwire reverb and the reverse and Gate setting were awesome but the others weren't ambient enough for me. It certainly sounded "studio" quality but I was looking more for an effect rather than an extension of my tone if that makes any sense. As much rave as the boss rv-3 gets I never truly bonded with it. I do like the 100 percent wet feature and will use it for more ambient sounds but it wasn't exactly what I was looking for. The delay is pretty lifeless and uninspiring to me and the reverb didn't woah me. I have a mr black super moon coming from space6oy and excited to see what that is all about. But right now I am currently in love with the holy grail. It's grainy, dirty, some may say "shitty" sounding, colors your tone and I love it. What's your thoughts on the holy grail and other reverbs? What is your favorite for wall of sound dirty reverb tones?
Fuzz, reverb, delay.

The only Holy Grail pedal I've ever owned was the Holiest Grail awhile back and I loved it, but was curious about 1,000,000 other pedals out there and sold it off. I just picked up an RM-1N recently and for wall of sound, dirty reverb it's the titz (or dickz). :thumb:

Always wanted to try the Holy Grail pre dirt...

I like my Nanoverb into my Rat for that searing sunburnt sound, all of the reverb modes can go to infinite decay and the nonlinear mode is perfect for shoegaze.

Had a Holy Grail Nano once. Immediately flipped it. The decay sounded weird and kinda choppy to me. I've got a Dr. Scientist Reverberator now and it's awesome. Love the H2 for the wall of sound dirty reverb tone.

If I want grainy traditional shoegaze, it's Midiverb II patch 29 or go home.

I love Dispatch Master pre OD/fuzz. Also went on a fairly lengthy spring pedal search and landed on the Super Spring Theory. It sounds pretty damn great (although not perfect), plus has the bonus room setting which can get pretty freaky at long decay settings.

RM-1N should be ready next week, just waiting on the email from Andrew. Prepping pants for shitting.

I love the underrated RV-2 and the massively hyped, for good reason, RV-3.

What are some of your favorite settings with the rv-3? I think the real key with that pedal is the mix knob..

I would love to try a industrialelectric reverb that thing looks crazy and for sure a tweakers paradise. I have the echo degrader and that is perfect for getting really weird. I never know what sound to expect when I plug it in but i know they will sound good.

Last night I was messin around with the rv-3 100 percent wet into the holy grail maxed out into the ghost echo for ethereal cloudy sounds. Cant wait to through the supermoon in the mix to get that ridiculous modulation that will turn my sound into a horror movie.
Fuzz, reverb, delay.
