I thought it was a hoax when I saw the headline come up, and then the subheadline said something like "unfortunately this isn't one of those internet hoaxes"

I also thought he cleaned up? I know he relapsed a few times but all they released is that he died in his sleep.

STP was one of those bands I never really LOVED but appreciated their stuff. Always fun to sing along with

Did anybody see clips of him with his current band? I'm at work or I'd track down the one im thinking of but he was like nodding out doing one of STP's big hits. It's rough viewing.

Yep, recent reports of how he'd been doing with the addiction battle were grim at best.

Very sad stuff—those early couple of records were a pretty omnipresent force back in my adolescent years.

Bummer. Not the biggest STP fan, but can't deny they were fucking awesome still.
Listen to Oarfish, it's heavy.

The Wildabouts or whatever they were called? Yeah, those videos were sad man. Nodding out, not even able to sing a lot of things properly, etc.

Never waas a huge fan of his, but STP had a few songs that I really liked that were fun to sing along to/kill civvies to on San Andreas, and Velvet Revolver was fun in a lame way, kinda like how 80s synth pop is, if you know what I mean. I know it shouldn't be, because of how public his struggles with addiction were, but I'm surprised to read that he's died. RIP

Fuck. STP was my very first concert, and Core and Purple are still awesome to listen to. I knew this one was coming though, that guy just couldn't get it together, and everyone knew it. Him and Staley were the two least surprising deaths in memory.

I've always wanted to cover "Sin", I'll mention to my cover band this week.

I'm listening to Purple right now. Sigh. I loved STP and Scott. He was crazy but I dig crazy. Wish he could have cleaned up. Fucking sucks that it seems to happen to all the talented ones.
