Flanger

Post by oinkbanana »

Ryan, you make the best chorus pedal I've ever heard.
how hard would it be for you to make the best flanger?

even if it's hard, can you do it?

I've always thought about suggesting one
The cosmichorus can already do a bit of flanger, but I'd love to see Ryan's take on a full on one (TZF would be huge).

Though that strymon orbit flanger is pretty hard to beat...I need to get one.

Hey dudes!

I definitely would be up for making a flanger! I love the sound of them and I think I could do a pretty badass analog one. I'd probably do a flanger over a phaser... I'm more of a flanger kinda guy I think. I'm sure the Strymon is top notch but I'll always have a soft spot for analog when it comes to modulation/filtering.

I think after the bigberator I'll get the Elements ready and then I'll be looking for a project... and a flanger would be perfect!

an analog through zero flanger would be a huge hit since Dave Fox doesn't seem to be releasing a mini-TZF any time soon and the prices for original ones have really shot up in the last couple months :)

I want a Dr. Scientist compresser deal >.>
Maybe it would be two compressers in parallel, an optical side and an analog side?

I'd do TZF for the flanger for sure, wouldn't be anywhere near as cool without that sound/feature! Flangers are actually a really bitchin sound... take lots of distortion plus some palm muting plus some flanger and you're cooking up some badass riffs!

I can't really see myself ever wanting to do a compressor though, it's just not an effect I've ever used or would ever use or would be excited about making. They're just not for me, I don't know :idk: What are some awesome examples of guitar players and compression? Chicken pickin' kind of country music? Those chickens never hurt anybody...

PS - B-man, optical electronics are analog, like in the Tremolessence for example. It just means that a light shining on a special resistor is controlling the gain. Other analog ways to make compressors are with FETs and voltage controlled op amps.

Xactly. those two kinds react differently than each other, which is why i'd like to be able to blend them. Every bass you've ever heard on any record has been compressed, if not compressed multiple times. Coxon basically always has his comp on too.....
