I love distortion into the Mini. I'd try an Elements or ask the folks at Holowon to build you an Umiom. My Umiom absolutely cuts through any mix I find myself in. Love that thing.

Also, I've been loving Mini on low-med gain with the bias dialed back -> low-medium gain Rat Tail. Sounds reeeaaal good.

I like your style :thumb:

Reviving this bitch. Love my Mini to death and have for a long time. With my Jazzmaster which is a little lacking in mids as it is I do have a rough time getting it to cut through the band mix on single note lines. We are a 5 piece with another guitar and keys.

Im not looking for something that will necessarily add a ton of fuzz or gain, just looking to sort of shape it (boost mids and volume/cut bass) when I need to be front and center. Would just do a range master but I don't think they like to be after buffers yes? Also waiting to hear from Brian on maybe just adding a mid boost switch

Yeah the Arc Flash is a real winner. I'm pretty sure Tom has discontinued it though. Might have to check the used market. I'll never flip mine though. Just too awesome and will always have a spot on my board.

Maybe a Rat might do what you need. I don't own a Mini yet so maybe someone who has both could try stacking them and give you some feedback.

Edit. Oh shit! Just realised how old this thread was. :picard:

I stack an elements into mine. Can do super clean, massive boost, less than unity gain, fuzz.... It's a really good match and will do what you want.

Also fucken arc flash. Wooot!

Did you try adjusting the Mini for very little bass and boost the treble a bit? I feel it adds a bit of mids as well :idk:

Funny... I've gone in the complete opposite direction ^^^
I usually have the bass at about noon, or less... and the treble at about 3:00 and just kind of left it there because it had a great, sharp attack. Anyway, I was trying to break old habits and decided to switch it up - I brought the bass up to 3:00 and dialed the treble back to 9-or so. Was super impressed by the fullness of it. It had the same character, but was so much fuller/present. Sounded a lot better in band context as well. It now had tons more mids.

That's pretty much where i wound up too. From there you can turn up the highs just a little if you need to cut through more than that.

I used to run Fuck>Mini in the good-old days and it was quite a potent combo. Now I'm using a Fuck for my main drive and boosting it with a Klone for lead lines. That pairing is pretty awesome as well. It might seem redundant, but the Fuck and Mini, or two Minis, is an insanely good sounding combo. Both pedals are versatile enough to get distinct tones, and when you run them together it's a whole new world.

Low gain Buzzz into Mini is also quite the combo.

Really any two ss/bs pedals kick ass together
